D16Z6, D16Y8, D16Y7, etc. What year is the car? Has anything custom been done to the engine harness wiring, such as OBD conversions? i need you to also answer these questions 2fastcivic94 12-04-2008, 11:46 AM its a d16z6 head on a d15b7 block. with the d16 orignal ECU. is it better to use the throttle body from a d16z6 motor instead of the 15b7 motor? which is better or are they the same? i have the wiring harness for the d16z6 motor. 4-2-1 exhaust header and after market intake manifold. AEM short ram air intake. trustdestruction 12-04-2008, 12:04 PM Alright, you use the ECU you already have (P28, original D16Z6 ECU). The only thing really any better is a chipped P28 ECU from Phearable with a custom basemap (or you could get a full tune but that's not worth the money on a stock setup). D16Z6 and D15B7 throttle bodies are the same. However, the D16Z6 intake manifold is better than the D15B7 intake manifold. If you don't have the D16Z6 intake manifold and are looking for an inexpensive upgrade, I would get a used D16Z6 intake manifold, clean it out with throttle body cleaner, and get it ported and polished, and then swap it onto your car. munkeewrench23 12-04-2008, 12:05 PM you can use a b16a throttle body might want to look into that too...=) brutekiller787 12-04-2008, 12:09 PM you're confusing me. you said you're swapping the z6 head onto the b7 block, yet the d16 ecu is original? look on the side of your ecu and tell us the middle 3 numbers/letters on your ecu. then we can tell you whether to change or not. trustdestruction 12-04-2008, 12:16 PM you can use a b16a throttle body might want to look into that too...=) enough about b16's already, please :D anyway, yea, I meant to mention you can use the throttle body off pretty much any OBD1 Honda engine (make sure it's for the right transmission). Or when you get the intake manifold P&P'd if you do, you can just get the D15B7 throttle body bored (is that the right word for this?) out to 60mm. 60mm is all you should want/need. munkeewrench23 12-04-2008, 01:25 PM enough about b16's already, please :D anyway, yea, I meant to mention you can use the throttle body off pretty much any OBD1 Honda engine (make sure it's for the right transmission).
