Street n Strip - 1995 civic turbo

I was at circuit city the other day getting my cd/mp3 player installed and i look to my left and I see a 95 civic with a mugen engine and a greddy turbo with spearco intercooler. idk what else this dude had but he says its a 14 second car w/juice, 19 second w/o juice. but It looked sweet as hell all jdm'd out and sh*t.

Mugen motor, turbod, intercooled, and NOS and it was 14s?


Was it single cam non vtec automatic?

I would think with only the Mugen motor and NOS, it would run 14's easy. And this guy has a turbo plus intercooler on top of that.

apparently hes either A - not got the stuff he says he does.. or B - has never taken it to a track, and is probably counting in his head the seconds it takes to roll over appx 1/4 mile on the speedo :D

Yea it looked crazy fast, but He told me he didnt like tellin ppl what he had in it so idk but it was badass.

My friend took me up there to pick up my civic, and he asked the guy with the turbo'd 95 if he would race him, (we were in a stock 93 toyota supra tt, w/a veilside kit. ( rich bastard) and he said no. so he might be bs'n me, that could be one of those fake intercoolers or something.

that is the fastest car ive ever been in, that thing flies!! I cant afford one though lol. Ill know my civic is fast when i can beat him.

so full of crap. a Mugen engine would be deep into the 14s(conservitively), with a couple of PSI on a turbo, it would be at least high 13s, and with a 50 shot of juice, it would be low 13s, high 12s, easy. hes so full of crap. and he got all that working at Circuit City? give me a break. and its funny, because on King Motorsports (official importer of Mugen for the USA) they dont even sell a prepped engine, and even if they did, a prepped Mugen engine would cost in the neighborhood of 10-20k. they are comparable to Spoon in product designs, and i have a friend that had a Spoon engine and he said he spent over double the cost of his EK on the engine alone. and the engines they build would be high compression, like 12+:1. yeah, not too great for boost or nitrous. so call this idiot out.:D

i hate posers who talk like they know whats up, and have no idea. this guy i work with keeps telling me about his old second gen MR2 that had a "jdm twin turbo 2.4l MR2 motor" yeah. umm, dont BS me on hondas or toyotas. aint gonna work. he also said it had widebody and a bunch of crap like that. nice guy, but i just cant trust a lot of what he says.

yea and i bet he had an intake that added 50 horse too lol.

19s w/o spray and its boosted...o my..does he just roll down the track at 5 mph? a stock dx with a d16y7 non vtec runs about a 19 or lower if im correct... that guy is full of it make sure you pzwn him in that supra

That guys either runnin a Mugen Engine with 200000 miles on it, and his turbo is real messed up, he isnt pushing down the accellerator, or he is a liar.

do you get a lot of problems with your 16 being boosted? from what i have seen, when you boost a 16, your just asking for constant mantiance or major problems from the air being forced by the turbo into the Vtec. wouldnt it be a little safer to boost a sohc or not boost at all? or is this just monkey sh** cause the guy i know possibably got a bad year swap or just a bad engine? it onlly has 63k on it, and you swear it will fly away when it works right, but if it doesnt, the turbo seems to drag and kill his times. its a greddy about 2 months old and was timed by honda... so i dont think its the turbo. any thoughts or reactions?

chances are hes a jackass who turned up the boost too high, or was a tool that didnt tune it right. a b16 will love a turbo as long as its tuned properly. it wont have much low-end power, but it would scream in the mid-high range.
