i miss it, is it gone for good or what? it definitely pressured me into putting more work into my car, watching the winners and reading the mod lists.

I wish it were back too, but the reality of it is that there just aren't enough people here anymore. It would be the same people getting voted on every month. And if I remember right, thats why we stopped doing it.

i agree, i miss the rotm. any chance it will be back? but it's true that probably the same cars would be voted in

IMO, we have enough new members who haven't been in it before to be able to do it again...
I vote yes on ROTM
add a poll to the thread... with enough votes for bringing it back i'm sure we can get the staff to start it back up.

Ending ROTM is one of the things that made this forum so inactive.

im so for it. i was also thinking of at the end of the year, to have a like a wild card car a 13th, like a car that got nominated the most, but never won. just a thought, cuz it could run into problems with ties and what not. but deff do a poll, there plenty new people i think.

Alright, I voted yes, but as a condition, we need to have a fairly large advertisement for ROTM on the top of the main page so new members can check it out and people won't forget about it. The last ROTM section was quite small on the side and it didn't attract a lot of attention. Check out sites like clubcivic for instance.

It also takes a lot of work from moderators and administrators to make it work as well. So we need to figure out a more polished way of doing it rather than a huge task.

I vote yes... it'll be nice to have a little (more) fun here... and it can't hurt membership; I'm thinking bringing it back should help us get some more new members to join up and stay active.

Why not have prizes for winning?

Which would help with this previous thread which everyone seems to forget.

if you're still not sure if you want to bring it back or not and want more input, i suggest putting something about bringing ROTM back in the top banner and a link to this thread so that people are more likely to see it and then come here and vote on if they want to do it or not.

great idea
maybe if we can get some sponsors we can get them to alternate months on prizes for ROTM and in return we put like an ad for them in the top banner saying "This month's ROTM prize is _____, sponsored by _____." and make it a clickable banner to their website.

also, this thread should be re-named "Ride-of-the-Month" or something because many new members have no idea what ROTM stands for and might not be interested in clicking the thread to find out.

I tried re-nameing it, but it only changes the name of the post, not the viewed name. and the sponsor things a great idea. like a even if that falls though, like a rotm hcf shirt or sticker would be cool for a prize or w.e.

I voted yes.

I feel rotm encourages people to take even better care of their cars so that they may win and helps drive traffic.

Plus people are petty and greedy so having prize helps too =P

Yea, the prize doesnt have to be anything big, like an intake or something. Just small stuff like what was said, shirts, stickers, gas card???, discounts to websites...

yeah like an intake isnt something big!... lets see.. rotm intakes or honda civic forum living? the mods/financial supporters have to pay for these prizes has anyone taken this up with patrick or amanda? they own the site last i knew. they would be good to contact to get the sponsors spun up on it. as for prize i say stick to the hondacivicforum sticker... thats what it was about promoting the website with clean tight rides. and hcf having the stickers put out so they could be noticed more. in the 2 years i have been here the site was booming then ricer then dead.:(... we dont have the same old timers on here that really promoted the website. im all for it...but we need to make some better promotions for the site too. lets try to get a link thrown in to like honda-acura tuning magazine or something of the effect.. might influx on the rice/nonknow it alls... but at least theres more members...

i also nominate testdestructions del sol for the first month we bring this back! do you accept? and anyone plus 1 this?

yea it kinda is something big, $300 bucks is a lot of money, doubt you want to pay for one for the ROTM. Doubt sponsors are willing to give out 12 intakes. So yeah buddy its too big for such a small and unorganized contest!!!

If you're paying $300 for an intake you are wasting your money. $300 isn't much to a big company, and it doesn't cost them the same price as you pay for it for them to make it anyway. It probably costs them less than $50 to make an intake. They might not care. Plus, we're not talking about the same sponsor supplying the prize each month, we're talking about having more than one sponsor and they can take turns. Whether or not an intake is too big of a prize is up to the sponsor. They will decide what the prize is anyway, not us, so let's stop arguing. We gotta get sponsors anyway before we start having prizes like that!

Don't worry about who is getting nominated and what teh prizes will be. For right now this thread is entirely based upon

1. Should we bring back ROTM and why?
2. What can be done to improve how ROTM works?

1. One thing we need the Mods to Sticky that Sponsor List.
2. We actually need mods either getting/organizing sponsors for our forum.
3. We actually need more or more active mods.

Prizes don't have to be intakes either HCF stickers / shirts would be just as cool. Also we still don't have a Donate Button.

That's one problem that we have is Yes we have great Ideas, but no one is getting organized to do it.

Why don't we have the mods either give someone with trust(no not you trustdestruction) to take control of this all or at least one of them to take the reigns. Please don't take this as me being a dick or telling you how to do your job, but if the members want this to happen some action needs to be taken.

trustdestruction

hell yea, t-shirts and decals are great prizes
black HCF shirts with the top-banner logo on them would look sick (just an idea)

and yea, agreed... we need a donate button
and like on other forums we could have "gold member" status available and you have to pay say like $10 a year to be a gold member, and then you could also have access to a special "gold member section" on the forum.

You do realize things like this take time. We are still discussing ROTM possibilities. I or 315customs would take control of it, possibly a shared responsibility. Also, what is the point in more mods? We are not an active enough forum such that we need more mods. We used to have t-shirts and stickers, but those members who were in charge of such things are currently not active. Maybe if we get enough members interested, we could work something out.

We don't need 'prizes'. People that have the nicest cars and win rotm on this forum don't even deserve a prize imo. If anyone should get anything, it's the mods or people that help out the most. ROTM is strictly a pride driven event, not a huge contest, it's for fun.

If we actually had a money cache I'd have no problem going to a store and picking up stickers and shirts for the forum and I'll ship it to the admins if you guys don't have time.

And if we don't have a money cache. Like trust said.. Premium members, Donate button. I'd happily donate money to this forum.

We've never really had a "prize" for the ROTM winner. They got a sticker if they won. And i dont think prizes should be given out. My point in bringing up the subject of people wanting shirts/stickers/etc was if enough people were actually interested in doing it, I'm sure somethign could be worked out

croninc
01-25-2009, 09:27 PM
The prizes would hopefully motivate people to work on there car and try to win. Anyways, I think there should be an organized page of all the winners for the year once we get ROTM going. I think it would be cool for new members to take a look at the past years best looking cars, plus it allow people to get ideas and ask questions about cool custom work.

I would also gladly donate to this forum, least i could do for all the help and knowledge i have recieved

Overurhead360

+1^ I'd contribute to HCF in a heartbeat. Definitely liking the "gold member" idea.

Edit: There should be a rule that if you win, you can not be nominated for ROTM for the following month. So you can't win 2 months in a row.

GReddy_Civic
01-26-2009, 08:41 AM
There was a rule like that. Once you won, you couldn't run again until the final month when all of the winners for the year were put to a vote for an overall winner. Rinse and repeat the next year

addiction2bass
01-26-2009, 12:07 PM
^ yep.... just one time winner a year. winning every month would be pretty funny tho.LOL tho i highly doubt that would happen.LOL

now a new rule like, you can not run 2 months in a row (win or lose) sounds good to me. that should open up the competition nominees

I love that idea. That would definitely fix the problems that happened before. The mod who opens the nomination thread for ROTM each month can post at the top of the first post :

"These members can not be nominated this month:
________
________
________
________
________"
and then of course include in that list the past winners who can't be nominated for a year.

Obviously on the first month this wouldn't apply though.
