Hey, I'm new to this site and new to civics. I'm just about to buy a 1999 DX sedan and want to know roughly how fast it goes 0-60. I also want to know if it'd be worth it to turbo or not. Umm, thanks ahead of time.
General Civic Talk - 0-60 for '99 DX?View Full Version : 0-60 for '99 DX? ar151666 04-01-2009, 07:43 PM Hey, I'm new to this site and new to civics. Superfly 04-01-2009, 08:03 PM Haha not very fast if its bone stock :D But it's got a D16 which is a great engine to boost....should get you about 200 whp. Turbod16.com is a good site to check out. trustdestruction 04-01-2009, 08:06 PM lol, 12+ seconds? croninc 04-01-2009, 08:26 PM the only way to describe a 0-60 for a stock civic is slow WellFedHobo 04-01-2009, 11:39 PM I checked that one yesterday. Right around 14 seconds. inthezoneac 04-02-2009, 01:16 AM http://video.aol.com/video-detail/94-honda-civic-dx-hatchback-0-60-mph/3209172955/?icid=VIDURVAUT06 if it's anything like this, hella slow ar151666 04-02-2009, 04:29 AM wow...i figured at least ten seconds but i had no idea...kinda sad. If i were to get it around 200 whp would that reduce it substantly or not? Would it be worth to even do that? inthezoneac 04-02-2009, 06:15 AM 200hp would require a turbo. you'd be doubling the power at 200hp compared to stock and it would make a world of difference. stock video I posted earlier: http://video.aol.com/video-detail/94-honda-civic-dx-hatchback-0-60-mph/3209172955/?icid=VIDURVAUT06 turbo(not sure how much power): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXlrpW4qs_g&feature=related big difference lol mudferret 04-02-2009, 06:45 AM Here's a list (http://www.hondaclub.com/forum/articles/4859-stock-honda-1-4-mile-0-60-times.html) of times for various models, looks like 8.5 sec for the coupe...or so they say. Count on the time being exponentially slower with a slight incline. Accleration feels about the same as my 1998 4runner (3.4L V6) on flat ground. Uphill the 4runner would smoke the Civic. gunz4me 04-02-2009, 08:30 AM Also, there is a big difference in times when comparing an automatic to a manual transmission in the EG Civic line. The automatic will ALWAYS shift for the best fuel economy :( xsteinbachx 04-02-2009, 08:33 AM Who races in an Automatic though? ar151666 04-02-2009, 10:16 AM thanks for the info, i would plan on a turbo after what I've found out and hopefully get it under nine seconds. Thats my hope at least. inthezoneac 04-02-2009, 03:44 PM thanks for the info, i would plan on a turbo after what I've found out and hopefully get it under nine seconds. Thats my hope at least. I would guess 200whp(basic turbo setup) would put it in the 6's(0-60 times) for a DX. But I wouldn't turbo an automatic. trustdestruction 04-02-2009, 03:58 PM I would guess 200whp(basic turbo setup) would put it in the 6's(0-60 times) for a DX. That motor/trans is not worth the trouble, at all. And, the only way you're in the 6's 0-60 in a boosted Honda is with a good driver, STICKY tires, and a great suspension setup. Wheel hops a bitch ;) Overurhead360 04-03-2009, 06:20 AM SUPERCHARGED K24!!!!!!!! do it! you won't! |
