Well... I wanted to set this thread up awhile ago, but never got around to it. I guess you can call it a project, more or less a list of things I want to do with the car, but it could always change.
When I got the car 3/2007, bone stock. Unfortunately, no pics.
Within a month a CAI was installed, and since then, little pieces have been added. Here's the list so far.
7/2007 - OEM Black Housing Headlights;
8/25/07 - Citi-Lites (at this time, removed);
10/3/07 - Skunk 2 Short Shifter/Shift Knob;
10/13/07 - DC Sport 4-2-1 Header (removed);
5/4/08 - Crower Stage 2 Camshaft, Supertech Valve Springs and Titanium Valve Spring Retainers, Cometic Head Gasket, ARP Head Bolts, Skunk 2 Intake Manifold, Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket;
12/27/08 - EK Fog lights, Type “R” Grille;

2/26/09 - Pioneer AVIC-F700BT In-dash Navigation
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk152/cvcrcr99/Car/DSC00843.jpg
First thing is first........my car needs to be fixed (cosmetically). I need:
New front bumper cover
New passenger fender
Paint, if not already VSM.
Things that I want:
Bi-xenon HID kit (6000K or 8000K)
ITR 23mm Rear sway bar w/ all necessary brackets etc.
ASR subframe brace
ARP Extended Wheel Studs
Front/Rear Type "R" lip kit
Wheels! (Hoping to find some GSR Blades)
Aftermarket 6x9's for the rear speakers (No idea what I'll get, but something better than stock!)
Stuff I have, but not installed:
Rear disc brakes (trailing arm assembly) (Needs new rotors, pads, and bushings prior to install)
Pioneer 5 channel amp/"RSX type S" OEM Bose subwoofer
This thread will be updated either as soon as I think of other things I want, or as soon as I buy/install something.

The pictures that I have up there are when I first lowered it. Rubbed front tires on almost every turn, and scraped my exhaust on every little bump in the road. I am guessing it was about a 3-3.5'' drop.
However, since then I have raised it up a bit. I'll find some time to take some new pics.

On Saturday, a friend of mine and I took a trip up to North NJ. He was picking up a CRV head for his RSX, since his car died (long story). It was a 2 1/2 hour trip up, and a 5 hour trip (stuck in traffic) back. After getting home I found out there was a ten car pile up on the NJ turnpike. The good thing is, he is a huge Hondata fan, and I got a 3 hour tuning session! woo hoo!
At the beginning of the week, I found a small Greddy turbo kit on my local Craiglist. So I decided, to give him a call and meet up. I got everything you see below for $200.

Everything still has to be cleaned up a bit, and I will probably have the turbo rebuilt. I have heard a turbo rebuild at a shop is around $250, am I correct? I have yet to check around for prices.
On Sunday, in went the fuel filter!

Do you mean s2k? (Is the "older" style.) It looks like it'll be a lot of work to get this in and functioning correctly.
If anyone has any good websites that have a DIY, it would be much appreciated. I have yet to find one. I know I'll need a converter for my speed sensor, about $110. And a converter for my ECT, about $70.

I don't want any bigger than 750cc's. Thanks for the offer though. It'll be a small turbo for right now... my goals for right now are at 200 WHP. Maybe later down the road, the turbo will be bigger for more powa! lol
Almost forgot. Found out I will need a resistor box for these RC's. So I went to my local Craigslist, and found a guy about an hour away with a resistor box from a 90 Accord. Should do the trick just fine.

I saw the first one and read through all 84 pages. It's actually pretty painful to read all that, just a bunch of people repeating that the speedo-healer and ECT module from modifry.com is needed. And a few people selling/scamming others for a different type of speedo-healer. Took me 3 hours to read through all that BS. lol. I appreciate the links Splat!
Unfortunately, I will be selling the s2k cluster (already up on eBay for $150), I would rather put it off now and buy an ap2 (newer one) or a CTR cluster later down the road. The extra money will be put towards the turbo project of course.

So, I ended up selling the td04h turbo over the past week with hopes of finding something better. Sold the td04h, which needed a rebuild for $125 locally.
Also, bought a 2 month old Acura battery from my buddy parting out his RSX type S. I actually needed a new battery desperately as I couldn't leave my music/any lights (interior or exterior) on for 5 minutes without having the battery die (with the car not running of course). I ordered a Resistor box from a 95 Accord to use with my Rc's for $17, and will be meeting up with someone in Reading (about 45 minutes away) to buy a Rear disc brake set up and a 2.25'' hi flow cat! woot!

So, here's a quick little update. Over the past week, I bought a y7 oil pan, and rear disc swap from a 94 Civic EX that had ABS. I have painted all of the charge piping hi temp gloss black after sanding and priming. Also, I will be ordering the 40/40 prop valve from a wrecked EM1 by the end of the day.
I did a couple price quotes through my buddy who works at Firestone for new rotors, and pads all around. Including new rear brake lines, OEM rotors, and ceramic pads, the total will come to $160. I am not sure if I want to take a break with the turbo set up right now and get the brakes situated or not. We'll see what happens.
Pics will be up by the end of the weekend!

Nice job so far. but quick question, you planning on getting some different wheels or are you more concerned with the performance over the looks?
cvcrcr99
05-15-2009, 04:27 PM
Performance is #1 right now. I will eventually get some GSR blades for rims and a simple lip kit, but that'll run me $550 total. I want to get the big things out of the way first. Plus, I actually like the slammed on stock hubs look.

05-16-2009, 02:06 AM
What's the power goal? Those injectors are huge.
Looking good though.
That's a great price on the brakes.
cvcrcr99
05-16-2009, 06:46 AM
I am shooting for 200whp right now. I thought the injectors would be too big, but my tuner recommended them as he can just tune them down. My buddy who will be getting the brake components owes me about $1500 (he doesn't have a credit card to buy his car stuff, and pays me cash), so I'll end up having him deduct the cost of the brakes etc from that.
Turbo update! Found a guy about 35 minutes away with a rebuilt turbo from a K20 Greddy kit (a little bigger than the tdo4h 15g) for $400. 0 miles since the rebuild. The best part is that I am told that the Greddy Mani and elbow I have will bolt right up! I'm going to go check it out this weekend.
cvcrcr99
05-21-2009, 02:15 PM
Ugh, the guy with the greddy turbo from the k20 stated that the entire kit already sold. Damn!
Good news, I found someone in Fogelsville (about an hour and 15 minutes away) that has a basically brand new 18G Greddy turbo, from the B series kit, for $450. I am hoping I can talk him down a little if I drive out there and all. Hopefully, something will happen this weekend!
Received my 40/40 prop valve yesterday! woot woot! Should be getting my new OEM rotors, ceramic pads, and OEM trailing arm bushings installed onto the rear disc set up by the end of next week. In addition, I will be replacing the front rotors, and pads, too.
About a week ago I filed a dispute through paypal with this guy on eBay who sold me a resistor box about 2 weeks ago. Never heard from him nor did I receive the item itself. I will be upgrading this to a Paypal claim (or whatever it is called) within the next couple days.
Lastly, I finally sold my DC header!! Someone in CA paid to have it shipped there. It cost exactly $61.19 to get that over there via UPS Ground. Ridiculous price, but hey, he paid for it.
cvcrcr99
05-23-2009, 07:29 AM
I have decided to sell all the Greddy parts, and start over with a new turbo set-up. Once I acquire the new turbo, I'll be updating this project thread.
cvcrcr99
05-26-2009, 10:39 AM
Greddy parts sold. Here's my turbo update! Just picked up a Garrett 50 trim turbo that was used for only 100 miles since a rebuild. Coming along with it is a downpipe which will bolt up to the exhaust housing. Also, I bought a new greddy oil sandwich adapter and new ARP extended wheels studs!
Pics of the installed turbo timer, painted charge piping, fixed intercooler, turbo,wastegate/dumptube, downpipe, sandwich plate, wheels studs, and installed rear disc assembly by Monday (6/2/09)... I promise.
cvcrcr99
05-28-2009, 11:49 AM
Well this guy with the Garrett 50 trim basically fell through. He was parting out the kit while it was still on the car. He said it had a rebuild about 150 miles ago, and now he is returning the car back to stock and selling it.
I paypal'd the money to him, 3 days later he PM'd me saying that there was minor in & out as well as side to side shaft play in the turbo. I know, I know, at least he told me instead of just shipping it and making me deal with a paypal dispute. However, I just told him to keep the turbo, dp, greddy oil sandwich, and ARP extended wheels studs and to refund me in full.
I am grateful that he gave me a heads up, but it's depressing news. I was so excited about this turbo, and then this happens. Back to the drawing board I guess.
croninc
05-28-2009, 01:16 PM
thats so lame, did you ask him before you sent the money if it had shaft play?
cvcrcr99
05-28-2009, 01:40 PM
^^ Of course. He said no shaft play, I assume he was guessing no play since it was rebuilt only 150 miles ago. So I am thinking either that the mileage since the recent rebuild is incorrect, the person who rebuilt it didn't do it right, or he himself rebuilt it but never got it balanced correctly.
Definitely not saying he was lying about the rebuild, but I don't need more disappointment later down the road just in case there is something really wrong with the turbo.
I just got a PM from him (clubcivic.com), he said he will be refunding me in full by the end of the day. I hope all of this goes smoothly. He has been very responsive to everything I have asked, and really never gave me any sh!t for wanting my money back. Good seller overall though.

05-30-2009, 08:13 AM
Oooook everyone.. I think I finally nailed down what I will be rockin' in the Civic. I found a guy in Florida who is selling a Turbonetics t3/t4 turbo, no shaft play, only used for about 1000 miles, .52 a/r on the cold side & .48 a/r on the exhaust side. He was only getting rid of it because it was too small for his b16. Perfect for me! woot woot!
I feel like I am so close to having all the pieces I need to install the turbo kit, but when I really think about it, I'm am only about 60% there. Still need a clutch, gauges, oil lines, down pipe, and manifold. Now, off to continue my search for more parts!
cvcrcr99
05-30-2009, 02:28 PM
My paypal claim was finally resolved, three weeks after payment and not ONE email from the seller, I received my resistor box. In went the Walbro Fuel Pump! It was my first time doing a fuel pump change, but armed with my Haynes manual/ and Walbro Installation manual, it took about 1 hour. The install went extremely smooth with no issues whatsoever.
In other news, I ripped out all my wiring for the citi lights, and fogs. I don't want wires just hanging out everywhere, so I plan on re-wiring when I can. I really don't think the fog lights and brackets will be able to be used once the Intercooler/charge piping is installed based on how deep the bracket and light assembly go into the bumper. Next up, installing the injectors/resistor box!

I finally got my intercooler done! Stripped all the paint which was on it when received, straightened all of the fins, which took forever (or though it seemed), sanded a little, and painted.

Now it's time to mount that sucker! Just for mock up right now, until I have all the pieces ready. I am trying to get as much done as possible prior to actually installing the kit. I am hoping that all I will have to do when I "officially" install the turbo is just that. Remove the OEM exhaust manifold, and install the turbo set up, charge piping, and intercooler. Once that is done, the rest of the day will definitely be devoted to tuning!
Injectors/resistor box should be next on the list to be installed!

LOL o just put a silencer on it ;) then ya got a sleeper.
Or if I wanted to have fun, I could have the WG dumptube go right into the exhaust dp, and have the BOV recirculated. I think that would be the quietest turbo setup. Either way, the lower the profile is, the better.

Ok, so here is a mini update. My turbonetics log mani will be here on Thursday (or so the guy says). It has been 10 days since I paid him and he has yet to answer my PMs about a tracking number. So, I decide ten days was enough, and I went ahead and filed a Paypal dispute with him (today). I PM'd him once more and noted ALL of his FS threads within Honda-tech about this issue we are in the middle of. Well, what do ya know.... three hours after m e filing the paypal dispute, and noting his FS threads, I finally get a PM from him..... Something along the lines of a shipping error etc and he didn't answer my PM from before because he thought it would be here by now... yadda yadda..
All in all, I got my UPS tracking number, and he is telling me that the Shipment should arrive on Thursday. Let's keep our fingers crossed that he actually does send me the manifold.

Last night I had to drive to Wayne, PA (about 20 mintues away) to pick up a Little Tikes basketball set up as a gift for my son's third birthday which is coming up in about a week. I was meeting up with an Asian lady (I could tell by her voice/accent) who was selling a brand new one via Craigslist. While driving there at 10pm, I realized I had no cash on me. Found a local Wawa with my GPS, pulled in and took out $30... no big deal. Now I am driving around, looking for this house. Couldn't find it. Although, my GPS is telling me I am at the right place. I called the lady about her address to make sure it was right and if she could help me a little with exactly where her apartment complex was. Unfortunately, she was Asian, moving back to wherever in a week, and could only speak about 10 words of English. All she kept saying was her address and that she lives near a K-mart and Acme... the closest Acme/K-mart from my location was over 12 miles away... ugh. Needless to say, I just ended up saying "screw it" and went home. While driving home, I guess construction was being done on this road (Sugartown Road to be exact), but signs were not set-up..... only a small orange cone on the right side of the street. Well, next thing I know, I end up hitting a 6-7inch cone shaped "curb" in the middle of the road. The whole car jumped up and down and I was sure something got f***ed up seeing as I am about 7inches off the ground. Didn't see anything or feel anything wrong with the steering/suspension/exhaust etc etc, I decided to continue. I got home and went to bed frustrated that I wasted gas and possibly screwed my suspension/exhaust. Today, I looked under my car and found this....

http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk152/cvcrcr99/Car/Carnagefrom6102.jpg
Thankfully, only the Ebay test pipe ("cat") was ruined. I saw the cat, and immediately thought my wideband was screwed (I don't know why now that I am looking at the pictures again). After thinking about how much I failed.... I realized it was not that bad. I am just going to have the 2.5'' downpipe I ordered lengthened, another o2 bung added, and able to be bolted up to the B pipe directly. Not one scratch on anything else... I was shocked. Oh and BTW, the lady E-mailed me today telling me that she gave me the wrong address and zipcode. Ugh...

Well the guy came through with the manifold. Here are some pics! I wish I had the extra money to go and get this powdercoated, but the local shop wants something like $60 for the powdercoat. I have to go out and buy some studs in order to bolt up the turbo. I'll post up some new pics as soon as get the manifold painted, the turbo and the wastegate bolted up!
A buddy of mine said he would would help me with using extreme high temp paint and curing it in the oven. I hope it works out!

I know, but the paint will have to be horrible looking and I will have to have extra money in order for me to get off my lazy butt and get it powdercoated. I would also be looking at a 2-3 day down time while waiting for the powdercoating to be done.
If I am forced to have downtime, I might as well save up $$$ and get my valve cover, charge piping, and Intake Manifold powdercoated the same color at the same time.

http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk152/cvcrcr99/Car/Inabush2.jpg
Story: While driving up to Bucks County (about a hour away) to pick a few random parts for the Civic, it started to rain. No big deal. I got off the highway, as my GPS instructed me to, and continued down a road following a mini-van. It's begins to pour, and then hail..maybe like the size of nickels or so, then everyone in the front of me slams on their brakes. I hit the brakes, and moved away from hitting the back of the van.
I ended up destroying about 5 little bushes and running into the big bush you see in the pic. Since it was raining, I couldn't get traction in order to back out. Cops came and had a tow truck pull me out (which cost $115....ugh.. hopefully, insurance will take care of some of that.) Here's some more pics of the damage. They are from my cell phone, so the quality may not be the best.
All in all, I need at least a new front bumper, pass. fender, and pass. side mirror. I drove it home without any problems, and the alignment wasn't off at all (that I could tell). I will be taking it into my buddy's shop tomorrow or Wednesday where I have a lifetime alignment plan, and he'll double check the whole suspension to make sure everything is fine. Until then, I won't be driving at all.

Not going through insurance actually. I called certifit and was happily surprised. $35 for a bumper and $29 for passenger fender. Addiction, I need a new passenger mirror, I would be able to sell you the driver one if I bought a pair.
I am in process of actually fabbing up a fix for the mirror. The mirror and housing itself are untouch. The only thing broken are the wires (just going to solder them back together) and the plastic piece that screws into the inside of the mirror and has the three studs that go into the door behind the tweeter. I'll post up pics tomorrow of what I did.

^^ I wish it was the driver's side, too. I bought the car with a little body damage right behind the driver door, and I have to stare at it every time I get into my car. Also, the hood, has the littlest-tiniest dent in it. You may be able to see it in future pics.
I got a lot of work done with the car yesterday. I remove the entire front end of the car, cleaned all the dirt out with simple green, and put everything back together. I only had to use a total 3 washers in order to get everything looking straight. Here's a pic of most everything removed and bagged.
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk152/cvcrcr99/Car/Cleaningdirtout2.jpg
Not a huge difference, but there was a layer of dirt underneath my car after hosing everything off.
Now on to the fun part. I spent about 5 hours total working on the mirror, and I have gotten it fixed! I just have to re-wire it real quick to make sure the electric motor that moves the mirror still works. I would have done that today, but it was raining. On to the pics!
Here is a pic of the remaining plastic on the door
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk152/cvcrcr99/Car/Mirrorissue1.jpg
I removed all the plastic off the mirror and off the door. I then grabbed my fog light bracket and decided to use this to help keep the plastic together.
Once I was done making those two pieces, I then drilled holes in the plastic piece (that holds the mirror to the door) and attached the brackets with screws. I also used some gorilla glue to make sure nothing would move whatsoever.... I am still trying to pick the gorilla glue off of my fingers.
Here was my last problem regarding the mirror... (don't mind the brown screw, I decided to take this pic after it was fixed)
http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk152/cvcrcr99/Car/Lastissue2.jpg
Without that being connected, the mirror was only being held on by two screws, and would wobble up and down a little bit. Definitely not good because the next time I go 80mph on a highway, I don't want to worry about the mirror breaking and flying off. So I needed one more metal bracket that had like a 115 degree angle. This is what I created.
Test fitted the mirror (took it back off to mess with the wiring), and everything looks straight! No wobbling at all. I'll post up some pics of the mirror on the door once I get the wiring situated.
Let me know what you guys think! BTW, I know this was a lot of work for an easily replaceable $30-35 mirror (then add time and $$$ for paint). But right now, I have no additional money to throw around. Any dime I can save, I will.

I will be ditching all the couplers I have now since some are cracked and worn, and I need a total of seven 2 1/4'' t bolt clamps as I will not be using hose clamps. Updated my want to buy list on the first page. I will be making a trip to my local Home depot when I can to grab new couplers. I really hate to say this, but, I must sell the turbo kit and try to go another route with the car (in the future).
Trust me, I do not want to do this (I'm getting all choked up inside just typing this), but my car currently looks like sh!t with the broken front bumper, bent up fender, and dents behind the driver door. Also, I do have a kid (full time dad of a 3 year old), and I want to spend a ton more time with him and go places with him, and not worry about being broke because of a turbo project. It is really making me start to feel like a sh!tty parent/person etc etc.....not to mention the stress of having the CC bill hanging over my head.
Another reason is that I have no "Plan B" if anything should happen to the motor. Let's say I go ahead and buy the rest of the parts (another $1000 I would be on the credit card bill), install it, and end up spinning a bearing within the first month or two.... what the hell am I going to do??? No back up car, and no, I cannot get rides from my mom/step-dad, and I'll end up spending even more money on the car and be even more in debt.
I apologize for a huge rant, but I have realized that now is not the time for me with this type of thing. At this time, I will sell everything from the kit that I can, get rid of my CC bill, and clean up the outside of the car. I will make a thread in the FS section soon. I will be keeping things like the y7 oil pan, and walbro fuel pump. Also, I want you guys to know that you all have first priority when it comes to buying the parts since I feel that this is a great site!
This is not the end of my project as I plan to fix the exterior, do the rear disc brakes, get some wheels,do some suspension work, and save for a possible motor swap (maybe b18c1) in the future. I am off to make my FS thread!

I appreciate the support addiction2bass. I had an hour long phone conversation with my tuner buddy about how I felt about this whole thing, and he agreed with me. I have been feeling like I should put an end to the money.... -whoops-....I meant...turbo project for the past 2-3 weeks.
Addiction - I am keeping the y7 pan as mine is leaking. I replaced the gasket, but no dice. It still leaks. So I will use the pan with another new gasket and hope it works.
Croninc - I am keeping my walbro actually. I hate when the stock pump makes the car hard to start when there isn't much gas in the tank. The walbro eliminated that. I actually have two resistor boxes. I am selling one (the one painted) as a "set" with the RC 750's/OBD1 clips. The other I can sell to you for $15 shipped (since shipping to PA to CA would be a little pricey, even something that small). PM me if you're interested and I'll try to snap some pics tonight for reference.
*** I will update this project thread tonight/tomorrow, and hope to have the FS thread done by the end of the night.***

if its leaking just use some honda bond on it... when i did my 94civics oil pan i covered the whole gasket top and bottom with the honda bond before i put it on. sealed great. most likely your pan is just slightly bent on the flanges and really a simply wooden block and hammer could straighten it out perfectly. but the honda bond or other sealer on the gasket should be enough.
but if you want to sell your Y8 pan id take it also ;) whats the main difference just the Y7 is steel and Y8 is aluminum?
mines just got a big dent in it that i dont like the looks of.

Well, I started leaking fuel from somewhere yesterday and it got worse overnight. I went outside today, found out the leak was coming from my injector's/fuel rail. The injector for cylinder 2 was the problem. The o-ring on the top was mangled. How? I have no clue.
So I went to the honda dealership, got new o-rings and cushion rings, and reinstalled the injectors. However, I guess i over-tightened the nuts which hold the fuel rail onto the IM, and the bolts snapped. Now I have to wait until tomorrow for the Honda dealership to get two new ones in. Ugh... this is tiring.
I'll post up some pics of everything tomorrow when everything is fixed... hopefully... as I need my car for Thursday morning to get to the Philadelphia Airport.

Well, Honda didn't screw up and give me the wrong part. yay!!!! They are known to order the incorrect part at times.
Within an hour, I disassembled the fuel rail, and reinstalled everything using the new bolts which hold the fuel rail to the IM. Everything seems to be working fine again. woo hoo! I let the car idle and warm up completely and no signs of leaking gas whatsoever. I'm going to go road test it soon. I took a couple pics of the broken bolts etc etc. I'll post them up by the end of the night.
