Hey guys, I'm running my front and rears speakers to a crapy 4 channel Sony Xplod amp. I have two JBL fronts and tweeters and two Boston Acoustic 6x9s rears. The amp is around 45 watts rms I think....but with sony who knows.....Anyways I was wondering if any of you guys think it would be better for me to run those speakers to my headunit instead of that amp. I have an Eclipse CD-3100. It's 14 watts RMS (MOSFET) to each channel. Would they sound better hooked up to the headunit instead of the crapy sony amp?

* MOSFET Power Supply
* 100W Max output per channel
* 80Hz Hi-Pass and Low-Pass Filter
* 200 Watts RMS @ 4 Ohms
* Active Protection Circuit
* 4-Channel Line-In
* RCA and Speaker Level Inputs
* Gold Plated Terminals
* Deep Red
Haha they advertise the color! Anyways, i think you're better off keeping them hooked up to the amp.

It might be 200 watts rms for all 4 channels combined, but you can't bridge 4 channels anyway....you can bridge the first two and the last two channels together, but not all 4....anyways I was just sayin 200 watts rms was probably refering to being divided into 4 ways for each channel.....I think its around 45 watts per channel. I was thinking the MOSFET good quality amp from the eclipse headunit would have better sound quality than the crapy sony amp......

The sony has mosfet, its the first thing listed....and HU amps aren't that great. 50 RMS from the sony is most likely better than 50 max/clipped watts from the HU.
Do you have active or passive for you tweeters?

I think passive...im not really sure. The tweeters are wired through a separate set of +- terminals on the back of the two front speakers specifically for the tweeters.

Then i'm pretty sure they're passive. What's the RMS on your JBLs?
