Header, Intake, & Exhaust - custom headers

hey all, i am looking to redo the headers and exhaust on my car. i am going to cut and weld everything myself. i am going to put in points for a cat a resonator and an exhaust. i am doing this mainly for fun and would like to get a good exhaust system out of it. i am going to be using quality materials to minimize rust but i was wondering if there is a size that works the best.

2.25" for exhaust is good. i would do 2.25" starting at the header collector all the way to the muffler inlet. not sure what the proper header runner size is though.

making a quality header with good flow is going to be hard since the stock ones do pretty good and I doubt you will be able to make one thats more worthy of dc or any other reputable brand. I dont recommend doing the header but if you gots the skills and gots the know how go for it baby!!!!!

For a header you may as well get a Megan unit, it is cheaper and properly done, as Trust said, the header specs are a tricky thing.

But otherwise, 2.25" (60mm) is good, just make sure that your muffler is an oval shape. Anything shaped like a coffee can will be loud and raspy and Ebay ricer obnoxious. This will be cool for a week, then you will hate it.

Mine can be loud, but it's not raspy. I wouldn't have put it on my car if it was raspy or tingy, and it's only obnoxious if you don't know how to control the gas. I can make my exhaust sound quiet or loud depending how much I move my foot on the gas. It's all about control ;) I've had quite abit of compliments about my exhaust, even from my old man who's a Chevy V8 guy through and through.

Back to your post, like they said, you can get a quality header with research done on it cheaper and way easier than making your own will end up being. As far as a muffler, I always like World Sport 2's or Megans Universal muffler/silencer.
