Tell him that he's not alowed into the [sm=smiley35.gif]car community anymore. He probably drives a SMART car, am I right?

I hope he was high when he told you that... auto's just arent as much fun as manuals, plus you are losing out on alot of power. In other words... an auto can DEFINATELY be turbo'd

polo708

depends on how much boost your planning on pushing... if its like 8 lbs or less you'll be alright.

ohbiskits
07-26-2004, 08:17 AM
alright with the stock dx tranny or the stock d16 tranny?

polo708
07-26-2004, 04:23 PM
either should be fine under low boost... if you plan on bumping it up in the near future then go for the D16 tranny now.

ohbiskits
07-26-2004, 04:27 PM
sounds good.so i can go with about 8lbs of boost with the stock tranny and internals?...after that im gunna need to do some fuel and internal mods? also one more question with the d16 at about 127 hp stock what will it be after running about 8 lbs....thanks for your help

polo708
07-26-2004, 04:44 PM
8 lbs max... check with the shop before install just to make sure, any higher and you will definately have to check into fuel delivery and beefing up the lower end. I'd say just under 200hp, if you go with an intercooler, bov, and a ball-bearing turbo... I'd say about 230ish. Power-to-weight your ride would fly! at least low 13's

ohbiskits
07-26-2004, 09:36 PM
WOW! i like the sound of that....:D the ball bearing turbos are more expensive right? i deffinatly plan on runing a intercooler and bov... how much more do the ball bering upgrades usually run...it seems there worth the extra dough...ill probably get the moter and tranny in the next couple of months and hope to turbo it within the year...i cant wait now...low 13's thats great...put the magnaflow exaust and the header(dont know what brand yet...dc maybe) im likin it

polo708

ball bearing runs about $200 more, but well worth it. It runs cooler with less friction

i was searchin the internet and came across this...click here (http://www.titanmotorsports.com/ed19hociexds.html)...is this a good deal? its a little more than i want to pay but i can wait a couple more months to get something around that price if its worth it...i have learned that the more you wait the beter things are...id rather wait and get somthing good than jump into it and buy a cheap kit...just searchin now tho...oh yea i started thinkin is the d15 much bigger in size than my d15? will the engine and a turbo/intercooler fit under my hood? or is modification of the bay in my future?

would you guys expect to pay more than 3 grand for a turbo kit like i posted above?

polo708
07-30-2004, 05:52 AM
thats definately a full kit! Edelbrock is a well known company, but I havent seen too many on civics...

That comes with everything but the kitchen sink... haha. New fuel rail, maniofold, 4 more fuel injectors, gauges and an A pillar. Sounds good to me, that thing will scream! definately would pay more than 3 grand.

ohbiskits
07-30-2004, 01:43 PM
yea i figured that..lol....but that bad?..if i fill up once a week now how many after the turbo?...i push it pretty hard ...all of the time really ...heh

polo708
07-30-2004, 03:47 PM
well, your going from 4 fuel injectors and a small fuel rail to ---> 8 fuel injectors and a larger hi-flow fuel rail. I'd guess a little more than half of what your getting now. It will be a beast though!

ohbiskits
07-30-2004, 04:12 PM
yea im not worried about that...i think i can give up a little gass for some SPEED....:D

polo708
07-30-2004, 05:56 PM

that kit is for 6lbs of boost....is that anygood?

polo708
08-01-2004, 09:38 PM
I ran that same turbo on my old civic... Talked to the guy I sold it to about 2 months ago. Its still kicking. Its a good turbo, I'd recommend it to anyone asking about it.

They rate it at 6 lbs so that it will run on your stock internals. You can always up the boost later with no probs.

ohbiskits
08-01-2004, 09:44 PM
cool...you say no prob as in with stock internals?...this kit is more my price range about 2000

polo708
08-01-2004, 10:11 PM
yeah... It will come with the right piping and everything to bolt directly to your engine now. You can run that setup perfectly fine with your stock motor. If you start uping the boost too much ... some things will need to be upgraded though. I'd recommend a kit with an intercooler though, cost a little more but WELL worth it Im sure others would agree with me on that... it will help out with detonation on top of giving you about another 30 some Hp.

ok when i get ready for the turbo ill check on the intercooler kits that site has a bunch of kits for that motor all the way up to like 5000 so ill check i think the next one up is like 3000 and it has everything plus the intercooler..alright thanks...you have helped me a lot with this topic i apreciate it
