Ok, when we last left the Ex he had just gotten a new header and experienced no power gain. To recap...
Stock-16.9 @ 85.3mph--- 104 whp
+Thundermuff Cat-back- 16.6 @ 87.4mph--- 114whp
+DC 4-1- 16.7 @ 88.1mph--- 112whp-- Wtf??
Now, I was trying to sell the high flow cat that I got because it was too small, but instead I just fabbed up an extension with flanges on either end so now it fits. + a high flow cat. I have been reading about ECU's and decided Hondata and the cost of tuning it was a little out of my price range, so I found a socketed ECU and bought a Skunk2 chip from a local guy. + Skunk2 chip. I was really anxious to test the chip so without further ado...

Sa-weet. I got a crazy increase in mid-range. That's a half a second improvement and 3 mph faster in the 1/4 mile.
In a word- Stoked.

I only had the chance for one run since a car was coming down the other end of my midnight run back-road dyno, but I am gonna run a Hp pass tonight on the way home.

Glad to hear its working out.
I really need to take my Gtech out. I have never tried the 1/4 mile with it

i had a gtech for a day....yuck. we pissed around with it for the better part of a day, and it never reflected what my car actually ran.

Is anyone running that laptop software they make for this kind of thing? I forget what its called, but it reads HP, TQ, 0-60, 0-90, 100-0, plus 60', 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 mi times? I've heard its quite accurate as long as you have a laptop fast enough to keep up with it. Comes with all the diagnostic stuff you need too, including the cable to hook up to the car's computer. I've been trying to find a place to DL it (free of course), but have had no luck

when in college i had a very in depth desktop dyno program. you had to enter just about every spec of your engine, from engine bore and stroke, cam lift and duration, valve size, volume of air intake, so on...and the more questions that you could answer accurately, the better it was. it also could guess your ET and MPH, and it was usually within 2 tenths of being right, but i didnt know things like elevation, air density...stuff like that

Let's see...
$150- Catback
$120- Header
$25- Cat
$100- ECU
-----------------
$395- for 7 tenths and 6 mph.
That's not bad. $605 left, but I still have a whole second to go.
I got something up my sleeve though. Sneaky, sneaky.

does that something up your sleeve come in a bottle?

Nope, that's cheating. And it's not a turbo either (hee hee)

Let me guess....Sniper bought two sprockets and a set of pedals, that he'll run the A/C and power steering with, so that these wont drag on the motor

Holy crap. That's a good idea.

Street Sniper. what ECU and Skunk2 chip did you get? Is that were you were talking about earlier when you said you had some minor mods but needed a chip to increase HP on the top end?

I just looked over this info again and it hit me. The 4-1 design has better top end but not low end, thats why you olst time but gained MPH. It really does make more sense to me now.

anything that adds some back pressure to the system should bolster low end torque a bit.

Oh, that's not true. I took my speaker box out.
Patrick

hey sniper, did some looking around, and you have your cars weight listed as 2700lbs, but i found 2 places online that list a 98 civic EX with curb weight of-1041kg, 2295lbs..another source said 2174lbs. ..?? were they wrong?
Street Sniper
07-27-2005, 11:28 PM
I don't think so. That's what I have it at, but for Hp purposes and the runs that I make...
Car- 2300
Me- 200
Speaker box + Amps- 100
And I don't know if that's with a full tank like I was running with so I just added a 100lb grace weight.
Total- 2700 lbs.
I reallly need to do some lightening.

He's right, i weighed in at 2709lbs last weekend. My EX coupe, with me in it, and thats pretty much it. I even took the frickin' floor mats out. Oh yeah, and i only weigh 165.
Me and my buddy were discussing weight, and came upon an interesting idea. Would it be possible to rig up some sort of "quick release" for the back seats? Because my car is a daily driver, and i refuse to let anyone else drive me around (been racing too damn long) i do need to keep them in there. But, it would be nice to just be able to pop them out before track night ya know? Just wondering if anyone had ever seen/heard about this, or if theres a company that might make one.

my stratus RT has quick releases in the back. maybe civtegra could go into starparts at work and get a diagram of the rear seat assembly for a 2002 RT coupe...it takes me longer to fish the seat belts back up through the seats than it does to take the seat in and out

next time i take mine out, i will take some pictures...all chryser "cloud coupes", like the 95+ sebring coupes and the 01+ stratus coupes i know for sure has a quick release for the bottom part of the back seat...i just pull two latches, and it pops out
