Lights, suspension, sound systems, exhaust....[:@] green98lxsedan 08-02-2004, 03:54 PM the whole up to officer discretion is kinda crappy there are plenty of aholes out there that can do what they want cause its left up to them how bout that i can reply again polo708 08-02-2004, 04:08 PM welcome back man... I thought it was just me.... Importman04 08-04-2004, 05:03 PM Well i guess i am not going to go to california anytime soon, F that 2000Si 08-05-2004, 02:24 PM ORIGINAL: ntxmotorsports Most of that crap is geared toward the import scene. Lights, suspension, sound systems, exhaust....[:@] Most of that crap was put into law because of imports, yes. but they're geared for EVERY automobile. Most of that stuff is a safety hazard (putting blue headlights in doesn't help, any red or blue up front may cause the person in front of you to think you are some sort of emergency vehicle) Anything making the engine produce more power that makes it non-BAR legal shouldn't be on the road anyway. You're wasting your own money doing it and you're destroying the planet. (I'm all for going fast, but fast cars can still do it legally) Everything there I agree with except the stereo one. "if heard at 50 feet" well you might be able to hear it in a warehouse or parking garage, but on the street it'd be faint enough from all the ambient sound that who cares besides that cop having a pissy day? NTX 08-05-2004, 03:26 PM Civics are the last vehicles destroying the planet....trust me.... You've got bikes that are louder and cars that are modded way past what we do ( 50s &60s hot rods, muscle cars.....etc), and they don't need to be smogged. Some of those laws are needed but they're still geared towrd the import scene. [:@] damn cops..... 2000Si 08-05-2004, 03:40 PM The only cars that don't have to follow current BAR and CARB mandates are carbed vehicles, which is why the older cars are still legal. Bikes are also not mandated under the same laws as cars are. A civic that wasn't legal in the first place with a turbo and no cat are breaking the law twice as much. Period. Don't like it, move outta Cali. Thats about your only option. Indiana has no smog/emissions testing so I don't have to worry about it. NTX 08-05-2004, 03:48 PM I have no prob at all with emission testing. My prob is a cop seeing a shiney muffler then wasting your time with the whole "moddified exhaust" ticket crap. 2000Si 08-05-2004, 03:56 PM So don't buy shiney mufflers... or get something that looks close to stock. I dunno that'd be my solution. NTX 08-05-2004, 04:01 PM So don't buy shiney mufflers... Thats how it starts.....they tell you what to buy, where to go, how to dress...... In Cali, if your exhaust is louder than they're pre determined level, your exhaust is not legal. The thing is the cops wont tell you that they should check it before giving you the ticket. 2000Si 08-05-2004, 05:50 PM heh if a cop tells me how to dress I'll laugh at him. but if you don't want the attention don't get teh shiney cherry bomb muffler. Get a nice low profile RS*R 2 1/4" catback with a bronze/dark tip. polo708 08-05-2004, 05:57 PM and dont run that huge NOS bottle in the trunk![sm=lol.gif] NTX 08-05-2004, 06:06 PM NOS? someone here has NOS?... sacicons 08-07-2004, 08:39 PM ORIGINAL: 2000Si Most of that crap was put into law because of imports, yes. but they're geared for EVERY automobile. Indiana has no smog/emissions testing so I don't have to worry about it. how is it that it is geared toward every vehicle? then the cars with carburetors* (AKA fuel leak) should have to follow the same guidelines as a fuel injected car. why should someone who likes loud old outdated gas guzzling poor handling straight-axled emission spewing muscle cars be allowed to pollute the planet? whilst us in our small lightweight efficient cars are subject to persecution from hot-rod loving 40 and 50-somethings who became cops after their own teenaged years of street racing and trouble causing? because they dont know anything about our scene. they dont care if the law states that an exhaust is legal under 95 DB measured 20 inches from the outlet at 3000rpm. they take the "discression" thing and abuse it. how often do you guys see a mustang or camero get pulled over and searched for not coming to a complete stop, or not using a turn signal early enough, or "just to see where youre going"? and how many civics, accords, eclipses, corollas, and celicas have you seen pulled over for these "excuse" reasons? and the headlights on a new Audi or Lexus are way bluer than my "Blue Ion" bulbs, so anyone thinking my lightly blue tinted headlights means im a cop or ambulance will think the same damn thing when a granny in her new gs300 w/ HID, pulls out behind them. as for my Matrix short ram intake making more emissions. Give me a break. it doesnt make any more than the CARB approved AEM. the smaller companies just dont have the money to get them approved. and why would they spend it anymore? i know quite a few people who have been ticketed even though they showed the cop the EO numbers and the CARB stickers on their parts. they dont really have to pay the fines, but to take time off of work for court, go there, fight the ticket, have the judge throw it out, and then get pulled over and ticketed for the same thing on the way home. thats how it is here in cali. they are harrasing us. im all for emissions regulation and i dont think we should gratuitously pollute the planet. but it is not right to have different regulations for carburated cars and those damn choppers that make 130 plus DB when they leave the F-ing biker bar across the street from my house and dont give a damn about the people sleeping at 2 in the morning. yet me with my greddy evolution that has been tested to run below the legal 95 DB limit, gets pulled over and gets a modified exhaust ticket when i "accidentally" go over 4000 RPM as i go past the monter truck rally at 7 in the evening. i hate those loud ass rattling fart can mufflers that ricers put on their cars and then go around racing everyone and their brother. but if we try to do it right and follow the laws, we still get lumped in with those guys. and why should i have to move out of cali to get equality? that isnt the country that we live in. i think that there should be laws and regulations, but i dont think that they are doing it right. this is a democracy and i personally am trying to start a letter writing campaign about this and the lack of interest the cops have in catching people who steal our cars, but thats a whole nother post. sorry for ranting guys but this is a sore issue for me. and as for you saying that you dont have to worry about smog legality in Indiana, dont you guys have an ozone layer there too? polo708 08-08-2004, 12:56 AM tell us what u really think, haha |
