they have begun cracking down on exhaust all over the country, and there are Quite a few states that are trying to pass a new law that permits NO exhaust modificaions...[:@]

Take it to court and have the cop charged with "harrassment" and "endangering the public" since he pulled you over for nothing.

in PA, if you get caught with either external neons, or any added lights, such as strobes or cobra eyes, your car can be impounded fro "impersonating a police vehicle"...

because so many cop cars have underbody neons and cobra eyes?!?!?

o i no! the exchaust most people put on, is it worse for the envoriment or is it just the sound that makes the gov't want to ban them?

In S.C. they dont give a rats ass about anything. However you are not aloud to have blue neons in Charleston, but nobody enforces it. The southern cops here normally have bigger fish to fry. I keep tellin yall to move here but no one listens. They dont even have smog tests here. There was once a law for it and they stopped doing it. Recently they tried to bring smog tests back but the law was turned down again!:D

Yep the southern state dont give a crap about anything. In AR you can have limo tint all around and they dont care cuz even the cop car have limo tint. You can have clear corner and they dont care. A lot of cars down here have really loud exhaust and they dont even care. We dont have e-check down here so some car stink when you drive behind them.

Patrick

i have 10% tint and noisy exhaust on both the stratus and truck, and while its not legal here, i haven never had an issue..however, in pa, where there are strict smog and safety inspections, my tint isnt legal, nor is the exhaust on the daytona...

but here in michigan, the land of no safety laws...there is nothing really..which is why all of my cars will be cat-free soon

I live in Central Texas, and you have to be careful on some things i.e. Exterior Neon Lights mainly White, Blue, and Red and also Cali. Anything else they really dont give a rats azz here. I was in Cali. one time for leave and got pulled over for having a the white cobra eyes lights which looked a light blue and got pulled over for it and was asked about my car mods... I told them I had air intake, lowering springs, and axle back exhaust. I had gotten a $85 fix it ticket. That sucked because I was on my way to Korea for a year. So read into the states rules before you do anything. What got me was I had a CA Driver Licesene.

So I am Never ever going back to California seeing that what to **** on the military out there.

I live in PA and my VERY VERY loud Holley only got me pulled over once...and after I told the cop who made it, he let me go (I kept the installation instructions with the carb number inside the car at all times)

what are "cobra eyes"? also, if you are stopped, can you have your underglow on? and what about the inside? if you have it LIT UP with blue neon?

Patrick

ok..a large empty parking lot..i believe that the business that owned it was out of business....i had just come off the interstate, and my cell phone fell out of the holder onto the floor, so i turned on my interior neons when i was in the parking lot...i was rollling very slowly, with my blue neon turned on, trying to see if i could tell where it went when it fell...as i came to a stop, he pulled in with his lights on..and went on and on about how "you import guys think that you can get away with anything becaose of that...whats it called...the quick and the dead...something like that?"....

i said, the fast and the furious?

his reply, "dont get smart with me kid"...

Patrick and jhsplaya the law in PA states if the neon is visible from outside the car (I know that sounds stupid but I didnt write the law) a cop can give you a ticket for distracting another driver. About being in an empty parking lot... I might have attempted to fight that one.

chances are theyre illegal, i'm almost 80% sure they are due to police colors, but they might not care

Ga

you do relize that cops have no authority on private property such as stop sign speed limits etc
you can roll around with neon inside and out and they cant do **** cause its "private property"

My brother was in a grocery store parking lot taking some movies back one night and he had his blue neons on and 3 cops came up and boxed him in.
Funny thing was the show "cops" was with him and they only gave him warning cause they have no authority there unless a crime is being commited.

I just got pulled over last weekend for tint here in Pa. It sucks i think i would have let it on but it was in a construction zone which doubles the fine. Fine would have been 210. I can get the windows tinted for cheaper then the fine was.

Patrick
08-01-2005, 05:19 PM
PA local cops are supposed to be cracking down on tint...i know someone who got pulled over for his tint..the cop told him that the tint on his front windows was illegal, and gave him a 120 dollar fine...he mentioned nothing about the rear glass or quarter glass..a week later, with the side tint removed, he got pulled over again, in the same town, by a different cop, and cited for the quarter windows and rear glass..

when he said "but i got pulled over for this last week and he gave me a fine and told me to remove the drivers door and passenger door tint, and everything else was ok"..

the cop said "well, that was his interpretation of the law, i view it differently"

the kid said "but i was told that it was ok...this isnt fair"

the cop hands him a ticket and says "no one said that life was fair.." and he went on to explain the ticket, which was multiplied since it was the same thing, so close together...

another story, my friend was just driving down the road the other night and a cop pulled him over because his car was "modified", the cop did a in and out inspection on his car and he got a ticket because of course he had to give him a ticket for somthing he gave him one because he had blue halos, the cop was also going to give him several othe tickets for stupied stupid things, my friend had his headliner out and his back seats and the cop sead that he could give him a ticket for that but my buddy sead he was planning to put them back in the next day, so the cop dident, but he sead that if the MTO (not sure what it stands for, but they pull over cars and trucks on the highway and have big blits's,and make sure there fit for the road) ever caught him with them out, they can take his car off the road...dam people, now im afraid in the winter when i take out all of my interier to do all the work..but o well, my car is gunna look stock in the winter anyways..dam cops!

you CANNOT be fined for not having a back seat...if you ever are, ask for him to show you the code. during race seasons, none of my cars have backseats or spare tires. ;)

Remember that cops are there to make money... actualy doing a civil service went out in the late 80's as far as WHAT A COP CAN GIVE A TICKET FOR.... well you name it and they can find a way around it.its best to play along. cops are like wolves you stray to far from the pact and they"ll get ya. I've got all the dont haves and still maintain a low ticket number:D

How can you be ticketed for headlights that are DOT stamped? One time I got pulled over for speeding and the cop (real nice guy actually) was like "I'm not sure if those headlights (my halos) are leagal or not." So I was like "well, they have the DOT stamp on them" so he went and looked at them and came back and told me I was right and he couldn't issue a ticket for anything with the DOT stamp on it.

Yeah I got pulled over last night because I have three neons in my civic ( black civic , red neons) ... I live in PA where they ahppen to be illegal ... and i was no more than a mile away from home ... well I have three neons in my car ... Two ten inchers that pulse to the music in the from of the car next to the front windown on the driver and passenger side and one fifteen inch in the back ... well a cop went pass me and pulled me over and told me i had to removie them and get my car inspected ... i also had a red license p-late cover that is illegal too ... and i almost got busted if i had an actual exhause instead of just a muffler tip ... so im removing the neons ... getting it inspected ... then putting them right back on ... damn cops

I finally got an exhaust ticket (living in PA that is) $75 well spent, but I am going to court. I am NOT taking off my loud as crap muffler and I'm gonna pay my money to a good lawyer, not the state. Going to court with this (and my 89 mph in 55 zone) ticket. Funny thing is that I'm actually going to win both cases as you can only get pulled over for exhaust in a residential area and to get pulled over for speeding he had to follow me .3 miles which he didn't. Even if this judge says I'm guilty, its in the vehicle code that he had to follow me for .3 not .03 miles in order to issue a citation. Screw PA, their rules, and their local cops (I love PA state police, cool guys).
