I have a 1997 Civic DX. It doesnt have much power, so I want to get some upgrades. I was thinking headers, Cold air, exhaust, and one of those hp boost chips. Do you have any recomindations for those parts. I don't want an exhaust that it too loud. Thanks

Do u know some good comapnys that make those products? I was also reading about a mini-me swap, where you put a VTEC head on a non VTEC block.

Yeah for a mini me in a D series you'd need a D16z6 sohc vtec head... it'd be worth your time just to swap in a B series motor of the same OBD as your car (for lesser headaches).

WOuldnt swaping engines, be alot more expensive, and frusterating? I talked to a guy and it only cost him 500 to swap heads, and swapping engines could be $$$$

Swap a D16z6/y8 head, wire it up and see maybe 125-127 hp, or swap in a b18c5 and see 195 hp... it's up to you.

Ok, so lets say I go with the b18c5. What will I all need to buy in order for it to all work? It would take alot of work, correct?

ecu, new mounts, tranny and motor... if you go JDM the B18c Type R will net you 200 hp and for 4200ish it'll get you everything.

I was thinking, if I could maybe find a totalled vehicle with an engine that would fit in mine. That would be a cheap way to go at it. Where can I find out what engines will all fit in my car?

Any D series will bolt in, any B series will need mounts, ecu, tranny and engine itself. Just make it less of a headache for yourself and make sure it's the same OBD as your D series.

What is the OBD?

You're at OBD II. so a 94-01 GSR, ITR or 99-00 Si motor will work easiest.

What is that? so I would have to get a new tranny, engine, mounts, and ecu. and then it would work? Is it ALOT of work to swap an engine?

nah. if you find the motor chances are you'll find everything still intact. If someone wanted a B series swap they're going to take everything as well.

youll also need the shift linkage from an integra or 99-00 si, as well as the axles and halfshaft, this should all come with a swap if you buy it from a reputable source. also, the gsr motor you will want is the 96-01, not the 94-95, as it is OBD1, and that will cause a whole new headache(mostly just a wire harness adapter, but theyre expensive)
