Engine & Internal - Need Major Help !!!

I was driving my civic home last nite and it was going fine then i heard a noise, it kinda sounded like a heat shield viberating but it was coming from my engine, the oil light and the check engine light came on and i got a puff of smoke out the back... i drifted it safely to a park-N-Ride and it would still start and run but there i didnt chance it so i shut it off, there is oil in the engine compartment... What happened? i did check into a new motor and all i found was the same 1.6 sohc vtec but the deal said it was a jspec, whats the difference??? any help asap would help me greatly....

it sounds like you toasted the motor. pull the code for the check engine light, it could give you a clue as to what happened. as for the jspec motor, it sounds like its the same engine, just that its out of a japanese civic. thats the same thing that got me my b16. blew the sohc and replaced it with a dohc. its as good excuse as any.
