Well, i just bought this Honda Civic and imediately i think... gee, i could make this super fast. I already thought it was fast bc i was used to a minivan... Then there was a bright light that shown down from heaven onto my engine... It's a V-TEC (I always spell that wrong) but it's the economy version, the v-tec E... So, i figure there's not much room for improvement on this engine, and i need a faster one. So, i started saving up money right away... Now to the question part, How much do you think would be a fair price to pay for a b18c5? That's the engine i really want because i think it has lots of potential. Any help on where to go after this would be a great help. You know, first steps to making my DD faster then the car next to me. Thanks in advance.

PS: that's pretty much a direct swap, right?

Where did you see that?!? I'm gettin anywhere from 3800 to 5800. And, compared to your 3500, that is not a good number!

What about the kits? I've found a couple for about 500. If i buy the kit, what else will i need to buy to make this engine run? I have my stock transmission that will work for right now. Thanks for all of your help! Here's the kit (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ENGINE-KIT-ACURA-1-8-B18C5-VTEC-INTEGRA-TYPE-R-97-01_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33620QQitemZ79827126 73QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD)

if u buy a motor to swap it shouldnt have more than 35K on it. Therefore it should be good to go. That motor will absolutely LOVE bolt on mods.

That engine kit your looking on eBay isnt neccesary to swap a B18C5 into your civic.

As for if its a direct built in or not will depend on what trim line you have, sine you have V-Tec I'm assuming either Si or EX. If you have a Si you wont need a motor mount kit but I think you will need a motor mount kit if you have a EX since you have a D series motor. Also if you do have a EX your transmission will not bolt up to a B series motor.

One more thing, do i have to get any specific year? I haven't read anything about it and i would assume not. But then again, i dont want to spend 4 grand to find out that the engine i have won't ever run in my car...

just get an OBD1 (94-95 or 96 JDM) GS-R motor. it will drop in with factory mounts (not yours, from an integra or b16 Si or Del Sol) and the wiring is a lot easier. then get some skunk2 stage 1 or Blox Tuner series cams, and either companies intake manifold, and youll be right alongside a type r motor powerwise. and cost should be a little lower. and install is a little easier, and OBD1 is easier to tune.
