Best Detailers Secret
Never half *** a detail if you plan on doing it yourself and never spend more than $200 if you have someone do it for you. If you pay someone to detail your vehicle and they dont use a 3 step compound when they buff and wax youre vehicle then they dont know what theyre doing. Also if they arent using some sort of clay bar after/while they wash your vehicle they are in the wrong. Before you drop off your prized possesion just ask them about the procedure they use in cleaning/restoring your car. When a detail is finished your car should feel smooth on all exterior surfaces and of course it should look good as well. As far as interiors many people do them different ways and get it done. It all depends on what type of interior you have and how bad off it is. I detailed for 2 years until i joined the air force and i learned the hard way by ruining a lotus esprit's interior. Some special wool/ suede interior didnt like what i used on the benzos/beemers. Just be mindful of what you have and dont get ripped off. Once your car is detailed wash it weekly and wax it thouroughly once a month. I recommend zymol wax, that stuff works wonders. Meguiars is nice if you use the compound and the finish. Dont just use the all around wax from them though, that stuff will burn your paint. Deuces

RE: Best Detailers Secret
First of all, most detailers like myself will offer different levels of detailing. A standard detail usually includes a hand wash and dry, bug/tar removal, tire/wheel cleaned/dressed, and a coat of wax. This should run you approximately $75-100 depending on size, condition of the car, etc..
If you opt for the full monte detail, 3 step process, claybar and everythign, $200+ is NOT out of the question. Some detailers use cheap products, and that sucks. But others like myself will make sure your car sees some of the best products out there, and the look/finish of the car at time of completion will make that price well worth it.
Long story short, get off your high horse until you know what you're talking about.
