EGR location 98 civic HX

RE: EGR location 98 civic HX
It's actually a black bodied cylinder on my 98 HX, on the left-hand side of the intake manifold, and attaches with two nuts onto permanent bolt ends. It has an electrical harness connector on top and mine says Siemens EE01 0914C. Yours may be different. I've gotten a replacement gasket and have been cleaning mine out with carb cleaner. I'd kinda like to clean out the chamber, too, but I figured out you need another gasket for that, and I'm not sure about removing the injector rail (or whatever it's called). I have both the 96-98 and 96-00 manuals and neither one gives any specifics on cleaning. Evidently some accords had service bulletins regarding clogged EGR ports.

I'm trying to check out the EGR system on my 98 Civic LX 1.6L Engine. It's a 5 speed manual tranny.
I can't find the EGR valve for the life of me! I'm not having any trouble codes, I just wanted to make sure that it was working properly before I get it inspected for emissions.
I can't find any EGR valve
I can't find any place for it to connect to the Exhaust OR Intake manifold
I can't find any wires or hoses for it
I also checked connection A-7 at the ECU for the pink EGR valve control wire. It's not there. It looks like it never was there.
My FSM says that it should be there ( even for a manual tranny )... but I can't find any evidence of it :-(
Is it possible that some of these cars really don't have EGR valves?
