Default 1996 Prelude VS. 1997 Prelude

This may be a stupid question but here it is anyway. If the only difference between the H22 in the 1996 VTEC model and the 1997 SH model is the fact that the 1997 has ATTS why do manufacturer's of Headers have to determine the difference between the 1996 and 1997?? Wouldn't it be the same Header? Isn't the Engine the exact same? I read that it's the ATTS that squeezes out the extra 5 hp.

I'm asking this because when I had my H22 swap into my 96 Civic done, I'm not quite sure what year the H22A is. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's either of those two years. I want to get a new header for the block that I have but if there is a difference between the two I need to know so I don't buy the wrong Header.

Thanks

where did you get your engine? Do you like the swap? I am really interested in doing it on my car. any info would be greatly apreciated. Everyone on this web site seems to hate the h22. I look at it this way it is more horse power for the money.

its also heavier, has a big footprint, isnt fine tuned like other honda moters, and is bad for boosting

but with the right work done it can be one sick motor

The H22 is not bad for boosting, no worse than a D series and what makes it not "fine tuned" like other honda motors........nothing. It is the big block honda motor and has hella ability to make great power and tq.

Huh? Can you please explain that? I can't see Honda putting a rough running engine into a Lude.

It just dont rev as high as the B series and K series, but what it losses in high rpm abilities it by far makes up for it with low end tq
