I have a 98 Civic Hx with a B18b1 Ls swap that I did myself. I love the car and the Ls motor is often over looked. It has way more torque than a little B16a, I beat B16's all the time. You can build a Ls motor to 170whp NA easy (cams, up compression a bit, IHE, tune). Ls motors love turbos. Or you can put a Vtec head on the Ls block and with some mods have a 200whp car.The difference from the Ls and GSR motor mostly is Vtec. Ls motor 142hp and 127ftlbs stock, GSR motor 170hp and 125ftlbs stock. GSR motor 1797cc, LS motor 1834cc so the Ls motor is a bit lager and the bigger the motor the more torque it makes. There are some other differences in the Ls and GSR blocks as well. GSR block is balance very well to handel high revs and has extra oil squirters to improve lubrication to the pistion at high rpms. The GSR motor is the better motor out of the box but a built Ls or Ls-Vtec is cheaper and can make just as much power and more torque. With intake headers and exhaust running a stock p75 ecu it should make 110-115whp and 115-117ftlbs, thats what mine put done when I had it dynoed before tuning.
