Your friend that owns a firebird should stick to domestics.
Manual swaps in Civics are very simple, and will function exactly the same as one that came with a manual tranny.

BTW: link says price $1500... if you do it yourself and shop around you can do it for $500-800

That's because he drives a mullet wagon. Tell him to stick to what he knows, and that's not hondas. A manual conversion isn't too complicated if you have a somewhat knowledgeable background in cars.
