you know what, just do what you want, no one is stopping you, i hope the best for you and your car, i hope you don't injure yourself in the process of this to just save yourself a few pennies, it sounds like you know what you're doing and you know what you want. unibodies aren't a great platform for this type of work unlike older cars. all i'm gonna say is good luck.

i mean if it wasnt safe i wouldnt be doing it. the mechanic i got doing it is a real good friend and he has about 25 years of work under his belt. hes chopped cars down the middle before and they turned out fine but i just wanted people to know before and afters. just so you know it can be done. and its something to do.

ya choppin cars is lowering the roof not cutting a car in half and re-welding it to another body. its like that one pimp my ride episode where one of the cars was a unibody, so they said it wasnt safe enough to work on,so they went out and got her a brand new car to work with

the actual damage [X(]
The frame was totallllly shot.
stripping everything out of the car to get ready for plastic surgery [sm=yeahsmile.gif]

Next were just going to measure everything perfectly and cut and were going to do a sleeve type procedure and weld above and below.

WELL LIKE ALREADY SAID...... ALOT of work to do...
and even with all the sleeving and welding together.... its just never gonna be as good as undamaged.....
i would PERSONALY... just look out in the paper or other junk yards and find one with minor front damage or a theft recovery... or blown motor/tranny.....
will be alittle more money BUT well worth it!!!!
BUT IF you REALY wanna continue with your jigsaw puzzle i will say DEFINATLY instal a FULL rollcage as well... stiffen up that car as much as you can.....
ive seen some preaty bad chop jigsaw puzzles before.... and well let me tell ya IF YOU DO be prepaired to keep it till its scrap metal... cause no one with any sense would buy a hacked together car...

ummm that red car is fixable by a decent bodyshop. i have seen worse. the reason why it was totaled is becasue the car is worth about 5-6 grand to the inusrance company and its about 10k in parts plus labor. basically that car is worth only parts. cutting and welding a unibody is not a really smart move. it can be done but its just not recommended. and good luck trying to sell that car to someone, if they get a carfax they would never buy it from you.

Why don't you just take off the outside panels, repair whats damaged. Also adding some pieces for support where it was previously dented so it won't be as weak. After that, weld on the new skin. That sounds safter to me.
