2001 Honda Civic Suspension questions
Hi all.
I've got a 2001 Honda Civic EX that finally needs to have the struts replaced as well as the front lower control arms to start with, as the front bushings in them are shot. I did do a search on both of my questions but didn't find anything on them.
I have not really spent any money keeping the car running since I bought it new in 01 outside of just regular normal maintenance. The car has almost 158k on it now, and I don't drive it more than 5k to 6k a year now, so my first question is, are the Dorman LCA's an ok replacement, as I can get them from Rock Auto for $42 ea, and even though I'm more than mechanically capable of replacing the bushings, I'm only going to save about $60 in doing so over the cost of the complete LCA's, so I'm not sure that going through all that work is worth saving $60.
I am also debating on whether to buy just the strut assemblies all the way around, or buy the Monroe quick struts. The difference between the two from Rock Auto is about $170, so I'm trying to decide if messing with R&R the struts is also worth the savings.

All done
Well, I ordered the quick struts and the Dorman LCA's from Rock Auto around mid morning on Thursday, and I received them yesterday afternoon, and I just got done installing everything in just about 4 hrs. I took it for a quick spin down the block, and man what a differance, as there's no more clunking and noise when I turn and when hitting a bumps. It was $348 for all he parts delivered.
So now It's onto the back suspension next week, then I'll take it in for an alignment.
