I need the opions of owners of the 06 or 07 Civic Si. I can't decide between the Ex or the Si model. What is bothering me is the 139 torque in the 200HP Si. When I test drove it the sales guy had me reving it up to 6000 to get the engine into the VTEC and said to shift when the light comes on. The car is fast but to spend the $4000 above the Ex (Canadian pricing) for the Si is my problem. Don't get me wrong it was fun to drive but I would think it would get tedious shifting and reving it up to 6000 most of the time. If you aren't going to drive it that way and not get the most out of the engine there is little point and going with the Ex seems more realistic. Only problem with the Ex is I wish it had more HP then 140 in it.I drove the Mazda3 2.3L and it has tourque 153 and 156 HP so the car is very smooth and it is quite quick. The Civic Si is at 139 Torque and 200 HP so my sence is you need to mat it to really have fun with that car and it is 4K more in Canada. These cars seem to to at retail for 24K for the Ex and 27,600 for the Si in Canada puss all the tax and everything else.

So the 06 or 07 Si owners are you happy with your car, what do you like and don't like? For the Ex owners do you wish you spent the $'s for the Si or are you happy.

I am presently driving a 1989 Civic Si 1.6L so either car is a serious updgrade.

EDIT: I will be driving this car for probably 15 years, i bought the 89 Si new and it is the only car I have owned so I don't change often. I have saved the $'s so I could cover the price with a cash sale but am having trouble jsutifying the 4K more for the Si.

i had a 07 ex civic coupe 5 speed i loved it and no i'm glad i didn't get an si. don't get me wrong i like the si but like you said you have to rev the crap out of them to get them to run. and you have to use premium fuel is a mute point to

 

thanks, yes it says premiumfuel but so did my 89 Si and all i have ever put in it was 87. The service department at the dealership said for the new Si it calls for premium 91 but if you don't use it the computer will change the timingto the fuel used. Means you won't go as fast, I guess!!!!!

 

The si's are still very fun to drive.If your interested in performance, i say go for the si, but if your just interested in comfort and gas saving, then go for the ex.

if your going to be driving this car for 15 years just go with the si, you wont be disapointed.

2. they handle better
3. faster

and u dont have to shift at 6k rpms everytime, just shift it to save gas when your just cruising but atleast if u wanna go fast or race someone you got the ***** of the si. if ur gonna get a civic and are expecting some performance, get the si plain and simple.

 

Yes, I agree when I go to work in the morning I usually come across a guy with a 07 Si and he is driving it very slowly. I just laugh because I know what that motor can do from my test drive and I think how can he drive it at 60 KMH. The Si I believe gets 42 mpg and the Ex gets 50 mpg acording to the stickers on the window. I think 42 mpg is even better than my 89 Si with a 1.6L in it.
