Default 2008 Civic LX Coupe Mileage

I just got my 2008 Civic LX Coupe three days ago. I have a long commute 58 miles each way, but all open road it takes about an hour. My old car is a 2001 Ford Escape that usually got 19-20 mpg. What mileage can I expect in open road conditions with my LX coupe?

It all depends on how you drive. If you take it nice and easy you should easily be around 40 miles per gallon. But if you have a lead foot, it will drop to maybe 30 mpg

I think it should get around 36 to 40 mpg depends on weather sometimes, tires, wind, etc.

yea, i've heard though that the mileage isn't that great when you first get it but once you break in the engine it'll get better.

Whether this is a good comparison or not, but my two-month old 2007 EX 5 speed stick went 180 miles (all highway driving-some hills in the country) Sat. nite on 4.675 gallons: 38.5 mpg. I am very satisfied.

I have an 08' Stick LX coupe. I have about 7k on it now. I get about 32 mpg on highway with cruise set to 74. The new ones mileage isn't that great. Due to the hp bump.

they have 140hp. the previous generation civic had 127hp. a 13hp bump isn't going to really affect the gas mileage.

Hp will afffect mpg. And think about, sure 13 hp might seem small. But that is almost a 10% increase in horsepower. And if you go from about 38 mpg to 32 mpg, that's going to be about 16-18% decrease in mileage. Andsure they canget hp in other ways besides more fuel. But the engines between the 05 and 08, are not very different. Not to mention the newer hondas are a little heavier.

The new ones get good gas mileage, just not as good as it used too(a lot to do with the introduction of the 109 hp Fit into the family). Unless perhaps you are going to hypermile it.

so you're trying to tell me that the intake on my car (AEM) which has less restriction than the stock airbox is decreasing my gas mileage because it is increasing my HP.

No, he's just talking about the bigger litre engines. There are other ways to get more hp, such as a CAI or SRI. But for Stock Civics now days, they don't come with aftermarket intakes to get hp, they just increase the cylinder size.
