Is the 2012 SI really that bad?
Hey guys, this is my first post on this forum...mainly because I don't own a Honda just yet, but am looking to possibly purchase one. I ended up looking at the Civic Si for a few reasons
-I'm young and I have never had a fast and manual car to enjoy
-Honda is reliable so it would be practical for not blowing a lot of money on repairs
-the MPG is great for a performance car
So, I have been hunting for Si's all over the place, and the 2012s are very available. From what I have read, this is because it is inferior to the previous generation of it (I do agree it's uglier), but I am finding that I can get a 2012 Si with something like 10k on it for around the same price I can get a 2009 Si with 40k on it. Is the reputation for 2012 really that bad? It is almost impossible to find a certified pre 2012 civic, but when you start looking at 2012 there are plenty to choose from.
In my area, the only other fast car in a similar category is a 2009 Mazdaspeed3, which once I decide to take the jump, I will test drive that one as well.
What do you guys think? I would be using it primarily for commuting and my daily driver, which is why the reliable Honda name is attractive to me. However I want something with some real kick to it, something I can look back on in 30 years and remember fondly while driving the kids around in a mini van

I went and sat in the 2012 si (I am only 5'11") my head touched the roof with the seat all the way lowered in the 2 door.
Other than that I think it is just preference. I prefer the generation before 2012's four door si.
Hope this helps a little.
ps... this forum is dead.
