6th Gen. v.s. 7 th Gen....
I had a '95 Honda Accord EX and really liked alot of things about it. Biggest gripe was the gas mileage, previous car was a Tercel....
I've driven a '00 Civic VP and thought it was very similar in quality to the '95 Accord.
Really like the body tyling of the 7th Gen...(01-05) but recently test drove one and was disapointed in all the plastic on the intereior....seemed more like a toy than a vehicle....seemed to be less rugged than the 6th. Gen... (although I've very limit exposure to the 6th). Is my perception off???
Ultimatley looking for a shrunken down version of the '95 Accord EX w/ better gas mileage.....
My questions for those who are in the know...
1) Are the 6th. gen. more sturdy vehicles?
2) Taking the same model and comparing the 6th against the 7th gen...is the 7th for fuel efficient?
3) Is the suspension really better in the 6th gens?....
Should be getting an insurance check next week and want to add a bit to it and get a Civic.....not interested in many mods...just looking for Honda quality and reliability have about 7-9K to monkey with......any thoughts?......thanks in advance..........

I love my 98 EX. I would not trade her for the world. I do know what you mean about the interior being a bit fake feeling on the newer ones, but they are all plastic interiors. Drive both and see which ones feels right for you.
Remember, your not gonna choose the car. The car is gonna choose you.

I haven't driven a 7th gen yet, but a guy i work with has one, he loves it. He has the EX i believe, I keep telling him if he sells he had better let me know.
I however love my 6th, and it's the base edition, nothing fancy. If i had a DOHC and some extra horses under the hood, i would probably like it more.
I have considered selling mine and upgrading to a 99-00 EX or SI. I won't be doing it for at least a year though.

Hi there. My wife drives a 7th Gen Civic Si, personally I love the car. We did experience some issues with the suspension, but since we purchased the extended warranty we've resolved all of those issues--handles very well at high speed..
I know what you mean about the difference in gas mileage... I also drive a 1995 Tercel XS. The car is a little pocket rocket, and the mileage is amazing. (not that I'm trying to distract the Honda owner, but Toyota is also excellent..)
