Default 86 Honda CRX SI

Hey guys i am new but bare. Ok so i bought a 1986 Honda CRX SI. I dont know much about the car but i do know its a nice sports car. Im not great at imports but big dad on american cars. I have a few questions thought about this car. I want to know what i should do with the engine i have or get another engine. The motor in it now is a EW4 1.5 8V SOHC PGM-FI 1488. Do you guys know any motor that would fit in this car with out a hassle? OR is there some nice beefing i can do to this motor i have now. Where would i get some nice but affordable parts for this car? The motor i just classifed ( EW4 ) is that a d15 if so what series is that?

Welcome to HCF.

I love CRX's. I definitely want one and will probably be my next project car. Anyway, I dont' know much about pre-'88's, but it sounds like we need to get you a swap in there, or at least a head swap to get you up to 16 valves. I would not want to be handcuffed with 8 unless you are just dead set on that motor or originality.

Is the Head swap a hassle. I mean i just switch heads and Gaskets? Where would i get the heads anyways.

i don't think head swaps apply to these years, www.hasport.com makes a motor mount kit to drop a b16 into your chassis, which would be the most powerful swap for about 2k-2.5k in cost. you might be able to swap in a newer d series, but i am not sure
