89 Civic Won't Start
CALLING ALL CARS
REFER TO: Engine Replacement Question, Transmission Linkage, Won't Start. --- Project failing! IN TECH HELP
Progress to date:
Comments: Engine install went rather smoothly, few snags but no major issues. Three day install and an arguement with the father, RAWR!
Current problem:
Engine will not turn over when attempting to start.
Push clutch pedal, turn key to start position, hear a "click", release clutch pedal, hear a more suttle "click".
Diagnostics attempted:
Arched starter. Starter spins freely, motor does not turn over. Will attempt to fix starter spinningissue after I find out why it's not firing from the ignition switch.
Attached multimeter to the solenoid wire shown in picture #1 --- Battery was low when running this test, but I wanted to get an idea of what was going on anyways and if there was a change in volts from the off position to the start position. There was a significant drop from 2.0v to 0.5v.
Checked for power behined the ignition switch (before it hits the main harness). I have power there.
Attached jumper cables from a working vehicle to the positive and ground on my car, still just a click even with sufficient power to start.
Checked all fuses in engine bay and in fuse panel, all check out a-okay.
REMEMBER:
Vehicle did not have problem starting before I swapped to the japanese long block. Motor turned over well and would not fire due to unknown reasons. That's another story.
