I didn't know you were 56...I thought you were just a dude in college trying to get the newest car on the planet. At your age I would be doing the same exact thing you would be doing, especially if I saved up for it & never really had a brand new car in my entire life(if that is the case for you).
At your age you're very close to retirement...that's why I say that.

My gameplan is fairly simple. I'm a-gonna write a screenplay or two and see what happens there. If I fail I'll just keep working until I drop.

Never had a new car before, though back in the late '70s I did pickup a VW Rabbit that only had a few thou on it.

At the present moment, I'm again leaning towards getting a Ford Focus, 2010, new, that I'd first looked at when I began this car search odyssey a couple of months ago. It's a wonderful little car and the salesman said he'd let me have it out the door for $15,503. I suppose that's not the greatest bargain in the world, but that salesman looked like he could use a few jingles in his pocket, so what the heck!

Just wonder...why not get an hybrid and take the tax credit?

Seems to be knocking out two birds with one stone.

Please no Focus! Wait till the Civic you want comes around. Good things come to those who wait! I'm sure you won't regret it!

I don't care that much for hybrids though I'm glad they're here and they'll certainly get better as time goes on. There's just something I don't like about having to deal with finding a gas station and/or an electrical outlet. Plus many of the modern small gas cars get as good or even better mileage (I think) than some of the hybrids.

Btw, here's the car that I pulled the trigger on this morning. She's not as pretty as a Civic Coupe, for sure, but she'll serve the needs of this old geezer very nicely.
