Default accellerating to fast?

hey, this might be a stupid question..but i noticed a couple times getting on the highway that big trucks dont move into the middle lane for you to get on, so i have to push really hard on my pedal, well i no in auto's that if you push really hard the over drive will kick in,but what happends if you push really hard when your in 4th or somthing, i no it gets to the point where it gets to push really hard but if you keep going down will it brake anything??..i would put it down into 3rd but i dont want to bring it into such high rpm's

ok... so what you are saying is... truckers are dicks and your trying to get ahead of them so you push the pedal down and your in 4th...

your auto will downshift itself to gain the speed... thats what your asking right?

I believe you can push it all the way to the floor w/o hurting anything. You're not gonna hurt the throttle cable or anything, cuz it won't pull the throttle open any wider once it's all the way to the floor. If you're really worried, plan ahead, look at the traffic sooner, and plan accordingly.........Or floor it EVERY time you get on the freeway!!! That's what I do...that way I'm going faster than the freeway traffic before I even get on it!!!

Are you saying that at a certain point, your gas pedal gets harder to push???

a little, but im going up a hill a little to get on the ramp..so i guess thats whats keeping it from gaining speed and thats why it feels harder to push down
