Default Advice Please

Hey guys, I have an opportunity to grab a hold of a 1987 Mazda RX7 Project car, serious project but I could get it for dirt cheap and I like these body styles. aside from the door lock the body is in superb shape. Considering buying it rebuilding and stripping it out and then turbo the hell out of it. here's what I know tell me what you think.

1987 RX-7
very old motor, currently runs but gets about 13 mpg i believe and about 50
miles for every quart of oil
It needs new struts in the back and needs a rear differential mount
it leaks power steering fluid
car needs a jump to start
a warning buzzer sounds after about 5 miles of driving and will continue
beeping until the car is turned off and on.
the interior isn't too great, it has no fabric or cover on the roof, the
hard plastic molding in the car is all pretty shattered. center console was
damaged when radio was stolen. no radio.
drivers side door cannot be unlocked from outside the car from someone
attempting to break in.
sunroof does not open properly, believe it needs a new motor.
i think that is all the bad in the car..
some spare parts come with the car that the owner before me took out of a salvage rx-7, a wiring harness, taillights and other misc. electric parts

so you would essentially be buying a rolling shell. how much money are you willing to invest into this?

No it runs it just consumes oil like hell but I figure 10 grand to get it running smoothly, strip out the interior except the dash and door panels and drive it occasionally as I upgrade it. but its always more than you suspect.

If your getting it dirt cheap, do it right. Get a fresh rebuilt motor built to what you plan on doing with it. I had a 93 RX-7 with a t-78 single turbo. I had to put in 1 quart of oil for every 5 gallons of gas (no joke). This is what the tuner said to do. I quickly learned after owning it that I don't make the kind of money I need to take care of and maintenence one. LOL. That is why I got my Evo.

If you have the money and lots of time go for it. It sounds like your getting it for the right price. Just keep in mind one of the biggest problems is over-heating. Get a good aftermarket radiator and good intercooler.

Will do as far as the pics go so its typical to go through oil that much? why's that? do rotaries just consume a hell of a lot of oil?
