Annoying squeak in brand new Civic
Hi,
I recently bought an 08 Honda Civic SI coupe. It's still new, having only about 1200kms on it. Unforunately, it seems to have developed an annoying squeak from somewhere under the steering column. It only squeaks when going over rough roads (which here in Winnipeg is EVERYWHERE) so I'm guessing it's vibration related. It does seem to have gotten worse. When I first noticed it last week, it only squeaked going over a particularly bad road. Now I'm hearing it a little more often. However, it is getting colder. It was -16C this morning. Maybe the cold and the resultingly stiffer chassis has something to do with it??
It has me kind of worried. My last Civic (03 LX) had nary a noise, although I only drove it in the summer. The last winter car that I had was a 2002 Hyundai Accent, and while it wasn't of particularly superior quality, it didn't have any annoying rattles or squeaks, even in the winter.
So is this a normal thing for an SI in the winter? I heard that the SI frame is stiffer than a regular civic's, so maybe it's transferring more vibration to certain parts. But, nonetheless, it IS still a Honda. I bought it for its reputed quality...
What should I do, if I can do anything?? I'm not sure the dealer will take care of it, since the car isn't exactly broken...
