Okay, you're from canada... a bit of clarification. When you say "Si", are you talking a CDM Si with the d16y8, or were you talking an SiR with the b16a2? That kind of makes a difference as far as this thread is concerned

And really, I'd recommend reading up on swaps and trying one yourself; if you have any friends that are good with cars, see if they'll help. Really, swaps aren't too hard to do by yourself, and shops tend to charge exorbitant amounts to perform one.

Yeah when I said SI i meant the one with a d16y8 and b16a2 meant SiR, I was hesitating between either because the both have almost the same horsepower. But the SI has electrical group with sunroof and better suspension + better brakes, but on the other hand it weighs more than my 98 CX. Here they charge around 500 for a swap, so it would cost me around 2k to get an SiR in my CX but I don't think this includes changing timming belt and water pump. If i chose the swap do i have to change my suspension and brakes on my CX? This is probably the guy who I was going to ask if I chose the swap, http://www.hondaphysique.com

oh man, i tried to check out that link in ur nxt to last post. my browser must not be functioning properly, it appears to be in greek or something..... there was a letter "z" in every word! definitely greek... i feel ur pain on the swap thing man. i have a b20 in my coupe. not the best engine out there. anyways, im scared to do a swap too, and i even grew up in a shop. i hate the thought of electrical troubles down the road and such. i dont think i would swap it man. those japs @ the honda factory know what theyre doing, so i would go for a car with the powerplant u want oe... just my 2 cents. or francs, whatever yall use up there in canada land...

Yeah, that's why I was asking. The USDM Si and CDM SiR are the same cars, and the CDM Si is the USDM ex.

As far as changing parts of the suspension and brakes for a swap, no; it's not really necessary. It's not a bad idea to do just for the sake of having a better suspension and better brakes, but you don't need to do it just because you swapped engines.

If it's done correctly you won't have any more problems than if that engine had been in your car all along.

As long has your harness wasn't a cut and solder job you really shouldn't have to worry about much.

I've seen wires snap 1/8" away from a strong solder. Broken wires are teh suck!

^ exactly.

If a swap is properly done, the engine will be just as reliable as it was with the stock engine.
