Default bad cat!

my car failed its mot on emissions recently and I put a new cat on it today. When i held up the old one to the light I couldnt see anything through it at all, it must have been restricting the car big time cos when I put the new cat on I took it for a spin down the road and,,,WOW!! loads more power.
Cant wait to take it out for a proper burn later

I didnt think you could look through a new catalytic convertor... isnt there a filter in there that blocks the passageway?

if you can see through it, it might be a high flow cat, just as long as you have at least some combs in theere. If you dont, you will fail emmissions.

If the car runs rich unburned fuel will make its way to the cats. Those things can get red hot and if fuel touches the honeycomb on the inside while its hot like that it will melt and block it up.
