Default Bad compression

Hey guys,

I'm new here. This is actually my first post and it comes with a question, lol.

I just got a 94 honda civic SI hatchback with 206k miles on it. I checked the compression and its pretty low....

From the first cylinder its 140, 130, 130, 140.

Does anyone know if theres a way to bring up compression with out having to do any kind of serious engine work, like a rebuild or changing the rings on the pistons, etc etc...

Also, anyone know what the factory compression is on these cars?

Thanks guys

That doesn't seem all that bad. Does the car run correctly?

It looks fine to me, I'd just keep driving it and doing routine maintenence till it blows.

And no, there are no miracle cures to raise compression.

It has no power. Its very slow but I guess the fact that there's a tranny issue maybe contributing to its "slowness" hehe

Theres a weird noise coming from the tranny...like something is rubbing the entire time...there's a weird scratching noise on 1/2/3rd gears like if you were to take sand paper and brush it against a concrete wall.....i'm not sure what that is but it makes the car feel like its slow...haha

I was told that maybe changing the head gasket could help with the compression incase there's a leak in the combustion

I dunno, i don't know honda's very well but my friend has a 91 si and i've got a 94 si and his is much faster than mine...
