Default Burning Through Second

I have a 1991 hatch (check sig). I have about only175 hp. when i'm doing a full out run from stop, my tires slip a fair bit in first. once i shift to second at about 7900rpms, and shift to second still going full out, my tires slip a lot through second.

Would getting a lightened flywheel help this by reducinginertia as i hit second? oris there some other alternative.
BTW i have brand new tires andstock ride height.

You can try lowering your car some, that will help. Just work on your overall suspension. I'd say get stickier tires but you just got new ones.

civics are light cars, you have to control how much horsepower you give it

You mean inertia?...

I don't know, but you don't need to go full throttle under a certain speed. Instead of going 100% (or 90%)throttle,learn how far to push the gas pedal so the tires don't spin. Once you get over a certain speed, the tires won't spin. Your best bet is to learn the limits of your car. Sure, civics arn't traction monsters; but you can give it a certain amount of gas so the wheels won't spin.

Or... you could swap in an AWD system from the realtime4wd civic wagon... haha
It's been done.
