buying a 96-00 civic need help
Hi, I am planning on buying a 96-00 civic and would like some advice. I need to know what model and options i want before I buy. Whats the real differences between the models? Differences through the years?
What I need is a 2door with sunroof, power everything, good price, largest engine besides the 160 horse and other than that i dont know?
Thanks for any help

You want an EX for the options. The LX, DX, and EX all have the same size of engine. The EX has VTEC though, and makes about 20 more HP, while still getting similar MPG. You'll want a 5spd if you're looking for sportiness.
Why a 2dr? I much prefer a 4dr for it's added usefulness.

if you plan on spending money on performance late down the rode, get the si or ex. prolly the ex tho they are cheaper. but if you get an ex, get a 5sp and would be good on gas and for tuning down the road. also i have a 2dr now and regret getting a 4 dr. yes they are more sporty looking, but you will pay more on insurance, and they overall i think are better to have.

You want the ex model.
Lx and dx have the samller engine. and no sunroof.

Its good on gas, quick, good on insurance, and a tun of aftermarket support for that model.

RE: buying a 96-00 civic need help
Thanks for all the help guys... So I was thinking of a 96-98 ex then for price reasons
Are there any updates made through those years? interior / options / exterior that might make me pick one year over another?
Now ive always heard that civics are reliable and cheap to fix, Until today when i started talking about buying a civic to some people, whats your opinions on that? Anything I should be aware of or to look for when ready to purchase?
I Love the usefulness of a 4 door, but the looks have to be there to make it work, the 2 door just looks to good I think. My last car was a 97 passat (ugly until its done out) - my first 4 door. Im a little nervous going back to 2 door, we'll see how that goes

Hey, man, what's up? I have a 97 accord 2.7 v6 4 door(automatic). It's a great car. I have a wings west kit on it and nice 17s. There aren't many aftermarket parts however. After seeing all my boys talk about all the stuff the do with their cars, I bought the 00 si. There is tons of potential with these. My accordis quick. The si is just more fun. People( in the know) see the VTEC tag on the side of the car and know what's up. I'm keepin the accord for when I just wanna cruise.

It's been exactly 3 yrs sinceI got my 2000 Si. I love this car. It's much quicker than the Ex. If you have the patience you can land your hands on one of these babies for about 6,000 cash. That's if you have the cash or if you can get a loan??? Basically the Si is the top of the line....More POWER. DOHC Vtec. TONS of aftermarket support. Try to get your car the closest to stock because that way you will know it hasn't been ABUSED. I got my car bone dry stock with just a little over 43,000 miles for 8,000 grand. Cash out the door with taxes and title change.
