Buying New Car - Civic SI Vs. RSX Vs. CSX
Hey Guys,
I'm new to this forum, but I desparetly wanted to get some opinions because I don't know a whole lot about cars. I'm looking at getting a 2008 Civic si sedan or a 2006 (or another year) RSX, or perhaps a 2008 CSX Type S.
Any comments or opinions?
Thanx,
Robin

RE: Buying New Car - Civic SI Vs. RSX Vs. CSX
well to start off id would go with eaither the si or the rsx, now from there is alot of preference, as these cars are very similiar.
Engines in both are basically identical(different cams and minor things like that). My brother is the owner of an 06 rsx-s and i and 06 civic, i have also driven many fg2s.
Now for some nit picking. i hate the si cluster as my hand blocks the gages. The new civic is a rattle box. but the ride feels smoother than the rsx.
Rsx-s has no lsd, si has lsd and also in 07 they put vsa in the si's. Both cars are very comfortable and both shift smooth. To me the rsx-s is slightly faster, not much, but it sure pulls a bit harder.
si as a stock 8k redline as 06 rsx has 84k
also your plans on what you want to do plan a big role. are you going for a heavily modded car, if so rsx-s is better for options along with tuneing ie kro.
Dont get me wrong, the si has basically the same potention, it just doesnt have the aftermarket backing as the rsx-s does, but give it another year, and i-pro or k-pro whatever hondata wants to call it will be out for the si.
So with all of this being said, id go with and 07si not 06, but if you geta deal on and rsx-s then go for that.
Now go do some test driving, that is the best thing you can do.
Hope all goes well for ya, and remember get what you want, do get it cause its there because you'll always being thinking man, i wish i had that car.
best of luck

RE: Buying New Car - Civic SI Vs. RSX Vs. CSX
Honda Civic Si:
197Hp, 139 lb-ft, 6speed (potential 3rd gear issues), $26,680
Acura CSX-S = Honda Civic Si Sedan with nicer interior appointments and a 5 speed instead of a 6 speed, $34,770
Acura RSX Premium:
155hp, 139 lb-ft, 5 speed manual or auto, $26,999
Acura RSX-S:
201hp, 142 lb-ft, 6 speed, $31,900
The choice is really up to your wallet. though it should be known, the 6 speeds from both the Si and the RSX-S have had issues in the past with 3rd gear. cause and solution are unknown, but if you don't mind really shifting hard, or being very good with the clutch, it shouldn't be much of an issue.
All very good cars. My brother has had a RSX-S (totaled it after 3 accidents), and now has a 2005 RSX-Leather with the SMG... still a very nice car. I'm personally leaning towards getting a 2008 Si down here after the start of the new year as my personal car for the summer (work provided vehicle for winter ftw!)
