Default CAI voids warrenty

hey, i was just at the honda dealership gettin the wiring diagram(audio) for my 08si, and while i was there i asked about what upgrades would void the warrenty. The first thing i asked about was the intake, and they said yes a cold air intake would void the warrenty, also i asked about lowering the car and they said that would also void the warrenty. The person said anything that goes into the car that is aftermarket voids the warrenty. Is this true or did this personi talked to not know wat they were talkin about.

It may vary from place to place...I know that here in California you can pretty much do what you please with it...At longest it's carb approved...You should do more research for you area where you live.

Yeah pretty much anything you put on a car a dealer will say it voids the warranty. They just dont like paying for anything in case something breaks

See that may be true, but I've also heard from some guys at work that in order for it to void the warranty, that they have to prove that part X or part Y actually caused the problem.

unless the modification itself cause the part to break they have to warranty it. Look into the Magnuson-Moss Act

I live in Vancouver, Canada does the Magnuson-Moss Act apply up here? or is that just an American thing.

Magnuson-Moss is an American federal law. Not sure what the situation is in Canada.

I'm here in Missouri and if you install a CAI or SRI it won't void the warranty here.
So go ahead and put it on, and as stinkyonion said, if something happens switch it out for your OEM airbox and take it to the dealer.

Just a side note:
When installing your intakemake sure you disconnect the neg battery cable. If you don't, then when you start up your car after installation a CEL may come on. Just cause the computer is not accustomed to the intake system change.
