Car for Daughter
#2
The back door locks break. I've had a 99 and a 97....the 97 both back doors got permanently locke cause of the child lock, and one on the 99.
It fixable for sure. my dad and i did all three by ourselves
Also there is a thread around here about this sort of thing....i'll try to dig it up for ya
edit: this should be helpful

buy her a 2d coupe instead or 4dr.
Would she be one that thinks driving is fun or driving is for talking on cell phones and putting make up on? Based on that answer, choose stick or automatic lol
To answer your question, I'm the 2nd owner of my 00 civic, got it at 100k, now it has 150k. *Knock on wood* No problems yet. I had to replace the window regulator because part of the gear stripped and the window wouldn't go up properly.
I've done a lot of stuff to my car as well, but no problems before or after anything was done.
I would say get a tune-up, transmission flush and oil change immediately when you buy it. As long as you take care of the car, it'll work like it should. I do synthetic oil changes about every 6-7k miles(3k miles is overkill and just wasting money). Really only oil changes and car washes have kept my car looking and running good
My car has never had the timing belt replaced, but everyone says to do it every 75-100k miles.
