What year? Different generation civics have different problems.

1) Does the engine crank when you turn the key to ON(III)?

2) Does the fuel pump prime (low humming noise in rear) when you turn the ignition key to ON(II)?

3) Do you have spark at each spark plug?

4) Has the timing belt snapped? Peer into the oil fill hole while a buddy cranks the engine. If the camshaft fails to turn but the crankshaft pulley does, then the timing belt snapped (=likely engine damage).

5) Does the CEL stays ON when you turn the ignition key to ON(II)?

Unhappy

I have a 2002 civic, yesterday while driving the car shook for a second and then shut off! Towed it to Honda and of course it turned on when they tryed to start it! They said they found DTC misfire 1 and 2 but were unable to duplicate the misfire at that time. The spark plugs had slight fuel moisture and said possibly that the vehicle may have gotten flooded. They test drove it again but no coded came on and no misfire!! What may have caused the spark plugs to have gas on them and the car to just stop!?

Likely candidates:
Bad fuel injectors, coils, or spark plugs for cylinders 1 and 2.
