Why was the salvage title issued so many times? hope it wasn't involved in all of those accidents. It is a good deal on 99 civic with the small milege (make sure that on the title of the car it says that the milege is actual). I have 2 civ both salvage newer had a problem with nether.

Dads Hoss run a vin # check on my hatch just to see if it will have that many SALVAGE TITLE/CERTIFICATE ISSUED?

It wasn't salvaged 20 times, when you salvage a vehicle the title stays as salvaged. for the rest of the life of that vehicle

is engine ticking bad for this this car. It has a tick that is constant with the rpm's. Kind of worrying me, also what's the tune-up for this car, like 60,000? How big of a hasle is it to replace the belts and water pump?

Carfax is crap and I have proved it. They were giving out free reports a while back and I ran 5 cars through. All of them were wrecked (bad) and were repaired by major insurance carriers at dealerships. Not a single one came back dirty. All were reported clean and accident free. Carfax only gets whats reported to its database and can never know if somebodys brotherinlaw fixed the crushed front end or it was flooded and the owner cleaned it up himself. i had a car that flooded in Alison. i stripped it and dried it out and you cannot tell it was ever under water. Carfax wouldnt know this and someone could buy it not knowing any better. you are better off taking it to a mechanic or two and having it looked over. A good body shop can usually see repairs and if they cant spot it, it really shouldnt matter then since it was fixed as good as new.

The only good thing I have found about carfax is that it tells you where the car is from, and how many owners it has been through, also at least gives you a highlight of the accidents that "were reported", as we all know some things go unreported all the time.

My car is a salvage title due to a total from hail dammage, but after some metal, windshields, and paint, it runs like it is brand new. You can't always tell that a salvage is bad, but a re-built title is usualy "cleaner" if you will, at least around here.

Some insurance companies might choose to salvage a car for whatever reason, as long as the frame and other saftey items are structuraly sound, and the car runs well and looks clean, chances are it has been built by someone who cares, and the person that re-built it can usualy tell you what he had to do to get it fixed, if anything he will be proud of his or herwork.

However, I would always say go for a clear title if nothing else then for the re-sale value. A clear title is always the first thing people tend to look at when choosing, and if you decide to re-sell you will want to present the car as a clear title. A re-built or salvage title just leads to lots of questions and doubts, if you can get the clear title for a couple of hundred more, isn't that warm cushey feeling worth the money?

About Carfax not being accurate about accidents, I just had a serious accident 2 months ago and I don't have a Carfax subscription. If you feel like it, can you run 1HGEJ6578XL047900 for me? I want to see if the accident is on the report.

Thank you.
