I think the CX has the 8-valve engine. It's a real dog. The only way to increase the performance is to swap it out.

The DX has a rear wiper, the wing is painted to match the car, and i think the side molding with mirrors are also painted to.
Thats about it, other then that is the same car same motor.

well. the cx is the same size motor as the dx but it is only an 8 valve making about 70ish hp and the dx is making a little over 100 with the 16 valve. the cx is a total piece of trash haha my brother has one('95 5 speed)cx hatchbackand i raced a friend of mines ('92 auto)ex or dx hatchback i dont remember which and i topped out doing like 85 if that and he was doing about 110 or 115 and both cars are all stock. although my brothers has 240,000 miles and my friends has a bit less still DO NOT GET A CX unless you want to swap engines.

What year are we referring to here.

92-95 the CX had a smaller weaker engine along with a longer geared transmission. Also the CX is bare bones whereas the DX has a few more interior things etc.
96-00 the CX and DX have the same engine. The CX is geared to the moon (82mph in 2nd gear!) whereas the DX is only geared halfway, lol. Also the CX doesn't have rear speakers or come with a CD player.

Neither have power options.

Do you know what the purpose of a Civic is?!? It's an economy car. The smaller engine in the CX gets way better mileage. Guys, Civics arn't performance cars. If you're racing a 100 hp car, seriously... WTF? Why don't you just race some guy on a moped. I bet you'd race a van too...

You know, it pisses me off when you think ALL civics were created for racing. Most people who own civics use them as daily drivers. As a reliable, cheap source of transportation, which as the Cx would be the most cost efficient, fuel wise, car wise, and plate wise.
