Civic Not turning Over.

Civic Not turning Over.
Okay, so i bought a new car...and im trying to get rid of my 88 civic. it was on empty tank for quite a while. so we through 20 dollars of gas into it. (which isnt much these days with gas being 122.5 a litre.) and it wouldnt start. we thought cuz my car was angled that no gas was getting to the fuel pump. so we turned the car around but still nothing. is there anyway to get this fixed? im not asking for a lot of cash for this car. so i want to know if it's worth it at all. it's got half carb-half fuel injection. when we put gas in the carb the car will start ffor a short time. but otherwise nothing. is there like pressure that needs to be released or something? please help. thanks.

RE: Civic Not turning Over.
try some starting fluid in the carb. that always works for me to just get it running. check and make sure the fuel pump is not gummed up with crud and/or is not working.
also, make sure it's got enough juice to start up. give it jump if you're not sure it has enough in the battery.

i would say check your battery.I had the same problem to me happen when i had my '90 honda accord....i wouldnt start even when i put gas in it. Then i checked the battery and jump started it and it started.

If your on a empty tank, you cant just expect it to start. The pump has to be primed to pressurize the fuel line. First, check fuse for pump, 2nd turn the key to the on position 3-4 times, try to fire it up. If that dosent work, try the starter fluid idea. Just start with easiest thing first.
