Civic SI engine

RE: Civic SI engine
Thats pretty cheap for an SI. But maybee not with a Theft Recovery title. According to Wikipedia the D16Y8 is only in 96-00 Civic Ex and 96-97 Del Sol SI. Here is the link.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_D_engine#D16Y8
And According to wikipedi also the 99-00 Si's only had the B16A2 in it. Not saying anything about JDM or Canadian though. Here is the link.

I would check into running the vin or doing a carfax on it. I ran a carfax on a 00 SI I was looking at and it said "SI" in the model. But, Either way I wouldnt buy an SI if it didnt have the B16A2 in it. Other wise I would just feel like I was buying a nice EX. Thats just me though.

It says it's from Vancouver. If it's canadian, it would have a D16y8, I believe. Should be just like the USDM EX but with different badges.

canadian trims are different.
and that car would be called a Si in Canada, which is the US EX trim, hence the EX gauges and motor.
SiR = Canadian Si, features the B16A2
#1 rule, wikipedia isn't always right. because of the nature of that site, the information is not 100% accurate

The Japanese version of the SI has the b16a2. The U.S version has the D16Z6.
I'm pretty sure this is correct.

Hmm ok, didnt know about the canadian trims. That makes sense.
So to clear it up...
That car is (probably) a Canadian Si, aka a US Civic EX, hence the EX guages and the d16y8.

or it's a seller trying to screw people who don't know anything about civics into thinking they're getting more than reality
also, general rule of thumb, stay away from salvage/rebuilt titles, it'll spare you hassle down the road
