My goal is to beat a stock 4 cyl auto trans accord in the same distance as a 1/4 mile and keeping ahead all the time during that duration. My 96 civic has a D15B non vtec engine,all the rest is stock. The accord has a lot more power (190hp) compared to my 100hp motor. But the accord has about 800 lbs more weight than the civic and im aiming a power gain just enough to beat the auto trans models.
Im sure a stock b16a swap can take care of the accord. But the B16 is a lot of cost and a lot of work. If I swap in a vtec head (130hp), would it be enough for an accord?

I need some advice to do it at a descent cost without sacrificing reliability.
Its difficult to determine how much hp I really need so advise from those who knows more about accords would be very helpful. Maybe I'll go for a turbo or an electric supercharger just big enough to get 130 to 150hp. Pls recommend brands and sizes that falls in between the very good and junk category.Im also trying to limit the HP gain to what my stock engine can handle safely.
