clutch
Hello, I'm new to this site, so forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong area. I just bought a 2000 honda civic with a manual transmission and I am learning how to drive a stick. I'm terrified of burning out the clutch. I can pretty much get around without stalling, but does anyone have suggestions on how to a) make sure my clutch lasts b) get the maximum performance from my car c) to know what kind of signs to look for that I might be weakening the clutch. Thanks!

RE: clutch
I will give you the same advice my dad gave me when I learned how to drive stick, my first stick car is the one I currently have which is a 2000 Civic EX, it had 20,000 on it when I bought it, I put another 127000 on it since then, original clutch mind you, has never failed, and I beat the p1ss out of it!!! Your Foot is either all the way in or all the way out!!!! The only time your foot should be on the clutch is when you are stopping, or shifting. Keep your dam foot off the pedal(in those exact words) at all other times, DO NOT RIDE YOUR CLUTCH!!!!! It will last as long as the car if you don't mod the motor most of time!!!!! ALL the way IN ALL the way OUT!!! Thats it!!! I learned how to drive stick on the same clutch in the motor, and when I just did the swap, my plate was almost like new!! My flywheel was perfect, just keep your damn foot off the clutch pedal!!!@
