clutch slipping..what does this mean?

RE: clutch slipping..what does this mean?
if your rpm's are rising fast and but your acceleration is rising really slow...then your clutch is slipping and you will very soon be completely out of commission. basically if yer car revs up but wont take off when u let out the clutch, it's gone. if u notice a slip fix it asap because u won't want to be stranded somewheres. no clutch=no go. can't even speedshift. some slipping clutches can be adjusted to get a little more life out of them, but not all.

the clutch will start to slip in 5th gear before any other gear, so as you take off from a light get into 5th gear and put the gas to the floor, and if its slipping it should have the rpms go way up but the car wont be moving as fast as the motor is winding up....

best thing to do is just get it fixed.
might want to pay someone to do it if your not familiar. (you do have to get the tranny off)
but does anyone know what a replacement will cost? im thinking of getting mine done, just in case.

Riceburner 700... You shouldn't try seeing if your clutch is slipping that way because if it isn't you can tear the **** out of your pressure plate and then you will be f*****. Best thing to do when you are driving is to get going and shift regularly up to 3rd and run third up pretty high and then go into 4th hard and see if you slip.

i was told to check to see if your cliutch is slipping to shift this way from a start, 1st 2nd, use second till about 6000rpm then shift into 5th.... you will then see if the clutch is slipping... and Pirate.. to have my clutch in my old corolla it was almost $600 after tax... the labor kills you cause the clutch itself only cost $120
