Yeah, working on the car always seems to take longer than expected due to simple tasks turning into difficult ones. I understand the decision not to devote more work to a questionable problem. With that said, have you inspected the FITV? Maybe it is dirty or faulty? Might be worth looking at when you are bored or have some extra time on your hands.

is that the fast idle valve?

anyway, hit me up with one of those instructions pictures and i'll take a look at the FITV tomorrow... can't be any more of a PITA as what I did today, so i'll try it. lol

Apparently, like the IACV, the FITV can get dirty and malfunction. When it does, it can sometimes be fixed by cleaning, similarly to the IACV.

Not sure. Typically, you would first bleed the system from the bleed bolt without the engine running and then complete the bleed process with the engine running and radiator cap loose.

hmm, not too long ago, i cleaned out my throttle body (while it was one the car) with throttle body cleaner spray.
is it possible that some of that got in that valve and caused a problem?
anyway, i'll try cleaning the FITV tomorrow

oh, and last time i cleaned my IACV, if i didn't let it dry out would that cause a problem?

Carburetor cleaner rapidly evaporates, so any residue left in the IACV after cleaning would dissipate soon after installation.

one last question:
will i have to re-bleed the system after removing and cleaning either the FITV or IACV?

Yes, if you remove the coolant hoses.
