Considering buying a Civic
The wife wants to buy a used Civic. Know nothing about them. Are some years better than others? Not wanting to trick it out, we are just baby boomers wanting to replace a money pit called Land Rover. TIA.

From a money pit point of view, any year is going to be 10x better if you're used to a land rover. Civics have gotten larger over the years, so its really your preference there. I personally think the seventh gens look hideous (01-05), and would stick to sixth or eighth if the choice was strictly based on looks.
Probably an eighth gen with 30,000ish miles is what you want. At 30,000 mi, damage from lack of maintenance from the previous owner is kept to a minimum, and you win on depreciation.

always do research online on what cars you are looking into as some might have alot of problems or have been recalled, i was doing some browsing today online and it looks like the 7th generation civics and up seem to have alot of problems, it also says online that the 6th generation was the most reliable of all the civic model years
