convert from euro specs to american specs
I own a 1995 honda civic and purchased it over seas in Sicily, Italy. It is currently in euro specs and i would like to convert it to american specs. How do i go about doing this? The speedometer gauge reads in Km/h and i need it to read in MPH.

Hi, if you want to ship the car back to the US, there's more to US Specs vs. Euro Specs The folks in the customs office back here will be able to tell right away that it was euro specs, as soon as they see the VIN.
I bought my civic new from the dealership with US Specs in Germany. Even so, I knocked off my passenger-side mirror, and got a new one. When I shipped it back here, the customs officer wouldn't let my car pass through until it had a mirror that said "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear."
Aside from the mirror and the speedo cluster, there are other differences. The bumper safety laws are different, so the bumpers would have to be replaced. The exhaust laws are different, so that would have to be replaced. Everything under the hood is required to be in English. So they'd check to see if the oil cap says "olio" and the radiator cap says "caldo."
I'm not saying it can't be done, but everyone I talked to about converting my euro specs BMW convinced me that it would be cheaper to sell the euro-specs car in europe and buy a "new" one back here.
